Hi Jeff
I've posted similar images of the ELC capeskin A-1 in 42 that I sold recently. I have previously owned the same jacket in a 44.
The comparison of the same sized jackets: both jackets weigh the same. The ELC was slightly more blousy in the waist/small of back (needed HWT to tighten it)...
Will take some - JC's sizing is 'wartime' so this fits as a modern 44. It's trim and form fitting without being in any way tight. The body and shoulders fit me better than my previous ELC A-1 44. The sleeves are tapered with narrow sleeve ends.
Length is great - slightly longer than an A-2 and...
Comparison of A-1 jackets from Eastman Leather Company and Good Wear Leather
Hello again everyone
Apologies for another long post so soon after my recent set of photos of the Eastman Leather Company A-1. As I mentioned in a recent post, I had the good fortune to buy Steve’s (bseal) Good...
Good Wear is the top maker for my money. Bespoke, longer wait times, unsurpassed for quality IMO. I've owned two, a Doniger A-2 and currently an A-1 and the fit, attention to detail, and quality of components makes it worth every penny/cent...
Dear All
I've just taken charge of a GW A-1 in a military 46 (modern 44). Grateful thanks to John Lever for the heads up (I owe you a pint) and to Steve Salob for the opportunity to buy.
I've been keen to buy this one ever since Steve posted images in the A-1 section on the VLJF last year and...

Yes, I recall passing on an early example of a Perry A-2 from JC in this material on Ebay. There weren't many steerhide A-2s though in my recollection.
I bought my first beret as a boy on a school visit to Cherbourg in the 70s. It's a Royal Basque in dense navy wool felt. It's worn now and a bit small so I recently bought a 'Splendid' beret with it's original box on EBay. It dates from the 50s and is a worthy replacement.
It gets daily wear...
Mine arrives next week - bought from a VLJF member who's a real A-1 buff. It's shown in the A-1 thread there if you have access? It's a one-off in Italian capeskin, based on the original in Suit Up with triple stitched seams, that already looks vintage.
Can't wait, the only jacket I was willing...
