Comparison of two Perry Sportswear A-2 jackets

Also posted on the VLJF Perry Sportswear (of Newburgh, New York) produced two A-2 contracts from the fiscal year of 1942. The precise dating of the contracts have been discussed at different times on the forum and although the information is contradictory, it appears from those with better...

    A2 Advice

As I've recently posted elsewhere, the Perry is a terrific all round contract: wearable pattern, comfortable and neat looking - I particularly like the pocket flaps and rounded collar points. I've also had a GW Doniger and found that equally comfortable - wide biceps, comfortable torso and...

    Most Comfortable A-2 Styles

Hi Joel, I have a couple of original Perry Sportswear A-2s (both sized 44) in horsehide and goatskin; my favourite contracts. In the right size (I'm a modern 42 and the wartime 44 fits well), they are both extremely comfortable - well cut in the shoulder with well sized armholes, trim forearms...

    Help with A-2 Sizing

If you're looking to blouse the waist you could consider John's new Security Aviation Togs A-2, which would fit the bill and also longer in the torso.

    Eastman Leather Company Garment Sizing

John Lever recently posted this on the VLJF: http://www.mash-japan.co.jp/eastman-web/sizechart/a-1.html All the dimensions of all the jackets are metric rather than imperial, and the text is Japanese, but readers might find it useful nevertheless.

A-1 Jacket / A1 Flying Jacket - The ultimate Golden Era flying accessory!

I am now buying Kent Kochheiser's ELC A-1 and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. Kent took these photos of the jacket and he has kindly allowed me to link to them (as they are of a far higher quality than I could achieve with my limited photographic ability)...

ALL ORIGINAL Irvin RAF type Jackets - Loving that Wolf in sheeps' clothing!

Could you send me a pic or two please Andrew (especially of the splat at the back - the incised design looks familiar, shape of feet, profile of back leg, shape of finials)? I'll see if I can turn any information up for you from my library.

    Soft leather A-2

I agree that the weight of the hide/skin will influence this, but for e.g. a 2.5 oz hide as used by GW the result is a very light supple jacket that drapes very well but pound for pound is more abrasion resistant than heavier hides.
