Anyone else looking forward to sweater weather?

I'm the opposite of you: I get 'horribly depressed' in summer!

Anyone else looking forward to sweater weather?

Is anyone else looking forward to cool autumnal mornings and evenings, and the chance to put on a nice thick wool sweater again? I am longing for autumn/fall - for this pleasure, and for the colours and gentle light.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Yes, I inherited an old one from a friend when I was at university - to add to my collection, he said! It was a few sizes too big and I occasionally wore it over another thick sweater. It worked very well.

Congratulations on your purchase. Which colour did you choose? Have you owned WPs before? As a long-term wearer, I can confirm that Stevieboy is right in his earlier reply. The length of the body is useful in the cold because you can pull the wool down over your backside either beneath or on...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Yes, I have several American friends who wear them. I have also come across them in South America, when I was in Montevideo in 1991 (June - October, their winter).

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Too warm for Woolly Pullies here at the moment, but have any of you chaps in the Southern Hemisphere been able to wear them lately?

Stephen, I agree with all you say in your post about this. It's way off-topic but part of this selfishness is caused by the sad baby boomers of the 60s generation who are nostalgic about Glastonbury and student sit-ins but in fact were and are extremely materialistic and acquisitive: we are now...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I have enjoyed wearing the military heavy wool for many years, but have never worn acrylic.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Congratulations. I was going to order maroon and derby tweed, but haven't got round to it yet. I shall do it soon, however, and look forward to wearing them in the autumn.

I would really like to get one of these - to add to my already large collection of woolly pullies.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I think that the British now outdo everyone in Europe for binge drinking- especially but not exclusively the 'yoof'. When they're not drinking themselves senseless, modern 'Brits' (as they call themselves without irony) are vacuously cheering over sporting events, royal babies, talentless rock...

I'm impressed with the site. Are you connected to it in some way or do you merely buy from it?

Yes, I have a dark grey mix and enjoy wearing it.

Outdoor Knitwear have just reissued the maroon version of the Woolly Pully. The last time I wore a maroon WP was when I was a student in the 1980s. I might well buy one again.
