    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I've worn mine several times over the past few weeks - the olive green and navy blue a few times, plus air force blue and derby tweed. Have greatly enjoyed it. Usually I've worn them early mornings and late evenings. It's been a bit too warm for them for the past couple of days in S-W London...

Anyone else looking forward to sweater weather?

Edward, I wholeheartedly agree with every word you say! I don't know how old you are, but when I was a schoolboy in the 1970s/early 80s (not so long ago) I don't remember this manic cult of summer and hot weather. Do you? It seems to be a new and media-led obsession.

It sounds ad if it might be 1980s, but that's only a guess. I'm glad you're enjoying it so much. WPs are a bit addictive, I find! I'd like to hear some of your Detroit stories sometime.

Anyone else looking forward to sweater weather?

Yes, and have you noticed that British weather forecasters always say "the temperature will rise to X degrees at best"? Surely temperature is not a matter of morality - there are no "good" or "bad" temperatures - and if global warming is happening we should not be being conditioned by Medialand...

Anyone else looking forward to sweater weather?

The other day I caught sight of an article on the front page of The Daily Telegraph saying that the rain and cool weather of the past week had 'dashed hopes of an Indian summer'. But is anyone really hoping for an 'Indian summer'? Most of my friends and colleagues apart from a small number have...

I have just ordered the new dark purple mix WP from Outdoor Knitwear. Am looking forward to it!

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I had a Canadian Army woolly pully many years ago - very dark green wool. I might still have it somewhere but unfortunately it's too small for me now. Am enjoying the return of Woolly Pully weather here in London.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Funnily enough, the other night I watched a BBC programme called 'Requiem for Detroit' about that great city's tragic decline. It glossed over some of the corrupt urban politics, however. At the end it showed residents who were going back to growing their own food and becoming small-scale...

The Complete Guide to suits: 57 Rules of Style

A man after my own heart. I often wear my tweed jackets or blazers with a ribbed military sweater or a turtleneck underneath.

Yes. Know them well and have one of them.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I am pleased to say that I wore my Air Force blue WP for a few hours yesterday evening and the peat brown one early this morning. There is hope: Fall is on its way and I am celebrating that! Outdoor Knitwear have introduced a new colour: dark purple mix.

I agree with you but it's worth it to be rid of the heat!

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

It's surprising in a way that they are not found more often in stores in the States, because your country has a strong military tradition as well as a strong masculine outdoor culture. I've certainly seen them in the States and a couple of my American friends wear or have worn them. To...

Good to meet you too - and I'm sure your advice to American buyers is sensible. I too prefer the crew necks. How many of them do you have? They become a bit compulsive. I have them in several colours and alternate them during the cooler months. Roll on autumn, or as you would call it Fall.

Yes, I think I have the same "Vice" too and I often wear at least 2 sweaters in the winter as well. Wearing two sweaters in winter can be great. I have also occasionally worn a woolly pully over pyjamas on cold nights or first thing in the morning

Anyone else looking forward to sweater weather?

I am so pleased to see that so many people agree with me. It can seem almost like a 'thought crime' to hate summer, especially in the UK. But not only do I look forward to the autumn and winter clothes, but to the gentler light and the cool (and cold!) temperatures. In summer I get a variant...

I have exactly the same 'vice' and am completely unrepentant about it!
