I hear you, and didn't mean any offense. My latest hikers are Merrills, not American. Try finding decent hikers. This past year I suffered from Plantar Fasciitis and then a torn ligament in my knee. I was hiking a minimum of ten miles every day, Doc says I overdid it, training to summit Mt. San...
I hate to see statues of our history torn down. Many of the people who want this are ignorant of history, and want to judge events of the past by todays standards. Much of what they believe is false anyway.

It certainly makes since, if there was a fur cutting operation in Texas, why would they source from anywhere else. These discussions are what makes this so interesting.

That sounds reasonable since Resistol had a fur cutting and felting operation in house. Many other manufacturers sourced their fur from outside suppliers. I have an Atwood palm straw but didn't know they supplied Resistol. Thanks for that info, maybe I won't be ashamed to wear the Atwood.

Good looking hat. I have never owned an American Hat Co. but they sure made some good looking hats. That one looks like a good color. What size is it?

Hard to notice your hat when you ride such a good looking horse. The hat is nice though. Keep those horse photos comin' I love seeing a good horse and hat!

My wife's friend has shared a few stories. The company she worked for sold most of their fur to the McLachlin hat Co. Her father was plant manager.

That just makes it so much more interesting. I am somewhat familiar with the area, having family in the Texoma area. Resistol sounds logical. Thanks for the link!

I don't know if this is the place to post these photos, but I thought Mallory fans may like to see them. An elderly friend of my wife worked as a fur cutter as a young woman, in Danbury. She was kind enough to loan me some of her books. These are pictures of the Mallory factory.

What a fine hat! I don't know if I've ever seen a Borsalino Nutria. The jacket is killer, and is a good match for the hat.
