    Pawnshop Langlitz find

Quite. I don’t think it’s prejudiced to want to clean up a garment that has been used as a sex thing. I’ve cleaned jackets anyway if they have bad smells or grime without that connotation. Hell I’d imagine the people who get them for that fetish would want to clean them if pre-owned for their...

Aero vs Simmons Bilt - leather sample - customer experience

I meant tobacco, which is a similar shade to many “tan” English shoes, but russet is in the family as well I think.

Good to know because OP’s goatskin looks amazing.

    Pawnshop Langlitz find

CHPs are the go-to jacket type of the fetish market. Langlitz is considered the gold standard and those guys buy them by the boatload.

    Pawnshop Langlitz find

After finding out a common use for CHP jackets especially Langlitz I would recommend (at least) machine washing it and probably soaking it in bleach or antibiotics before you take it in for zipper replacement. It's put me off the vintage CHP search, unless they're clearly unworn or bought...

Aero vs Simmons Bilt - leather sample - customer experience

I also have bespoke tailoring and am generally happy with a RTW fit from leather, especially given the nature of the material. But I don't think things like size 38 slim jackets with a 44" hem are acceptable by any definition of tailoring. If I got a RTW Schott Perfecto or Vanson like that they...

When did you get your SB? Because it seems like their QC was much better in earlier years but is nonexistent today.

Tobacco Badalassi would count as tan.

Aero vs Simmons Bilt - leather sample - customer experience

You can enjoy looking at the swatches when you get a jacket that's 2 sizes too big or too small and they insist it's within spec. :D

    Vanson! Vanson! Vanson!

Brown CW feels very different indeed. Great leather.

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

If your 619 is in Large then I would think your size in the 613SH is 44. But you'll see for yourself in store.

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

Yeah. Having worn it in two neighboring sizes, the extra inch of PTP doesn’t look any different.

    Vanson! Vanson! Vanson!

This year in general is their 50th anniversary. They have some special items for it, like you can get many jackets in Roma direct from the site without the customization fee.

Kim is Mrs. Vanson. I need to finally post pictures of my own Vanson visit.

    Freewheelers leather jackets

I don't think the cult of "I must buy it because it's Japanese" has as much power in Japan. :D

    American boot alternatives

That's what I'm saying. Just noting that if it had stayed under European ownership longer they probably would have killed what was left. (This happened to Brooks Brothers and others.)

    American boot alternatives

I’ll have to check out the Goodwood. I think the quality drop under European ownership wasn’t so much in the mainline product, rather it was in the newer models not made at RMW’s factory. I’m glad it was rescued though. There’s no shortage of heritage Anglo-American makers that were hollowed...

Two small scratches on a brand new leather jacket

Double Helix looks cool but Japanese MTO is definitely not what I would recommend as a first jacket for a variety of reasons.

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

The sleeves are comparable but look and feel slimmer due to the lack of underarm footballs. Still, there’s good range of movement.

    Freewheelers leather jackets

Yeah definitely not implying their pattern work is inherently bad, just that I have no shortage of friends who’ve sausaged themselves into RMC and FW that clearly don’t fit but they don’t like to think about it after spending $3000 lol.
