custom hats I've owned were ok but If you find a vintage hat in your size and style nothing else comes close. There is a special feeling one gets when finding, acquiring and wearing hats from yesteryear. The best part is the hunt.
Did anyone here win this Stetson no 1?

Not bad for 10 bucks

Interestingly enough, that's actually the hat I was on the hunt for when I discovered the lounge years back. This hat is a finely woven milan straw with silk 3-pleated ribbon. The epitome of stingy brim suave. Likely it was made by Cavanagh.
Late 19th century model. A hybrid of top hat, bowler and homburg stock. There are a few hats on this page in the lower right corner which may be similar...
I was tempted by this old Stetson:

I've had several of those early 20th century Stetsons with no model name. Frustrating. Typically, they are the 1900 Paris Exposition with 2 medallions on the liner and something like "feather weight" stamped on the sweat.
Bought it to feel its felt. Likely from the 1920's.

I sold Robert an early Select Quality with similar markings and the adjustable thread. Select Quality has been around since the turn of the 20th century. Those large deep vertical crests are great early examples. Well done :)
Josh, that pacemaker is definitely earlier than the 30's and most likely earlier than the 20's. 2.5" sweatband with the adjustable thread gives it away. As does the small size tag. Congrats.
