Looking for a specific hat for a friend. It is the one found in this photo of Frank Sinatra. It does not appear to be either felt nor straw. Can anyone identify and offer a name/type/availability for this item.

Hi CarloEscobar,

I've been wondering the same for sometime now, also! Your link doesn't appear to work, so I'm assuming that you're referring to this one?:

Interestingly enough, that's actually the hat I was on the hunt for when I discovered the lounge years back. This hat is a finely woven milan straw with silk 3-pleated ribbon. The epitome of stingy brim suave. Likely it was made by Cavanagh.

It looks like a vintage Dobbs to me. Hope that helps.

This Dobbs Milan looks very similar to Franks. The shape of the back brim is slightly different, but it sure looks like his hat.

Wow, you guys are awesome. I live in Florida and we used to have a place called Adam's City Hatters. They closed a few years back when the nightclubs overtook the area. Is there a thread on Men's Habadashers in the US that might carry such an article?

Sinatra's hat was a Cavanagh, but Knox and Dobbs are made by the same company as Cavanagh, so if you keep an eye out on eBay for a Milan in any of those brands, you'll get something close.

This was a popular Milan style in the fifties - many of the major makers sold a variation. There have been quite a few on ebay in recent weeks selling at modest prices.
