Very possible its just a vintage stratoliner/open road that he had a wider ribbon installed on. -

Just received this fine hat from rlk but it just doesn't look right on me Borsalino Marque Grand Luxe XXXXXX (likely from sometime in the 1940's) Size 4 and the sweatband measures 21.5" so all you guys who wear a 6 7/8 or 7 are in luck Color is "Amarena" but really does fit the Black...- Garrett

The line between stingy brim and full brim?
This is a matter of definition rather than personal preference. Talk to any professional hatter and they'll tell you 2" and under is considered the trade standard for stingy. -
