Well, I have an answer for that: a matched pair. The stocker, and a resto-rod sister hiding a Rover V8 and disc brakes.
Safety harness and radial tires on the 7/V8 might be a good idea too. :D

See, for me it is the association with a more-romantic era that I enjoy. A .40 Glock is probably a better gun than a .455 Webley, but Glocks make me think of drug busts, SWAT teams, and counterterrorism operations. Whereas the Webley makes me think of pith helmeted adventurers in the Congo, or...
Panama Bob set me up with a great, great Cuenca for $35 + shipping (and this wasn’t a special deal, I just PM’d him and told him what I wanted). A hat that would be $60 anywhere else. So I’d say take your $55 to him, and see what he can get you for that money.
You won’t be disappointed...
I do love the M-14, I think we ought to still be carrying it, but the FN-FAL is a marvelous rifle. I had the opportunity to put a few rounds through a friend’s recently, and something about the ergonomics of that piece just clicked with me. Very shootable.
I've fired several AKs and SKSs...
I was going to ask the same. The title "Who needs four-wheel drive?" was kind of meant to be rhetorical.
I know there have to be some more vintage off-road shots and vehicles to be shared.

Gosh, I was impressed. I share your interest in traditional architecture, and wish I was better at picking up and naming the various aspects of period construction techniques.
Currently I mostly operate on a “I know it when I see it” basis.

I’m not sure it’s fair to paint them all with the same brush. Certainly most developers seem to be more interested in a quick buck than maintaining lasting ties to a sense of place, and a lot of urban planners were drinking the wrecking ball Kool Aid during the “urban renewal” era of the ‘60s...
Oh, hey, no need to apologize! I’m sure that your knowledge of U.S. brands is far better than mine of Australian.
I was just amused, because I grew up with two generations of men who used Old Spice products, so there’s never been a time I didn’t recognize the schooner logo. I was crushed...
I've been collecting postcard images of Saginaw, Michigan for about a year now. Most are from the 1900-1910 era. You would be appalled at what was done to that city in the name of "urban renewal". It's mostly empty lots now, and I despair of it ever becoming a proper city again.
The real...
Well, it's not totally persuasive. Modern cameras just take different pictures. Crisper or something.
I suppose if it was degaussed and a bit of vignetting added, it might be more convincing.

I've read a couple different places that during the Golden Era, beating suspects and vagrants with rubber hoses was quite common: Especially if there wasn't enough evidence to press formal charges against them.
1300 Beaubien is the address for Detroit Police headquarters, by the way.
-Dave
Fine, but the police station absolutely, positively cannot have a basement. I've heard too much about what used to go on downstairs at 1300 Beaubien.
