    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Nice to meet another sensible man who shares my tastes. I should get a commission from outdoor knitwear because I recommend them so often, but the V-neck WP is available from them in a range of sizes and in both OD and Brown. www.outdoorknitwear.com It's nice being able to wear my WPs again in...

... And put them on the Guernsey thread? It was worth seeing them and increases my interest in that company.

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Needless to say I like them very much. As I said to you on the Guernsey thread, I have set my sights on the Diver Marl Grey! Welcome aboard this thread by the way. We'll have you buying a Woolly Pully soon!

I'm pleased about that. I have so many military sweaters that I'm not really actively after one of these, but if I came across one in my size I would snap it up.

Nothing would give me greater pleasure. I shall order it in a couple of weeks and ask them a few sizing questions tomorrow. You in turn will I hope tell me about your experience with the Guernsey. Great minds think alike.

    I meant Navy-Grey Marl! I think it's a 'must' in fact.

That said I am now extremely tempted by The Diver, Navy-Grey Mark! Best

They are very nice sweaters - the only reason why I don't go for them now is that they do closely resemble sweaters I already possess. You should never feel guilty about buying new sweaters! I am sure you will like the Steel or Beige.

    Guernsey jumper

I have the Steel Grey (very nice colour) and the Beige (which was called New Natural when I bought it). Therefore I'm thinking of either the Brown or the Dark Grey. Good to meet a chap who shares my (sensible) taste in woollies. With Guernseys it's wise to choose a sweater that's one size bigger...

I forgot to ask you what colour you are likely to choose.

WWII/old-fashioned military slang for passing gas.

This subject remains intrinsically funny even years after other forms of schoolboy humour have long been forgotten. At a personal level, I associate it with Corps at school and university, and with a series of particularly boring undergraduate lectures which I would enliven in this way. However...

In fact, it was cold enough for me to wear my Navy Guernsey for a couple of hours this morning, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I look forward to wearing it all day a few weeks from now.

Woolly Pully weather is finally arriving and I was able to wear my Peat Brown WP yesterday morning and evening!

I am delighted to hear it. May I asked where you obtained them?

I certainly would be delighted to let you know. I have several of these sweaters already and really, really enjoy wearing them - I look forward to the opportunity to do so. Fall is in the air now which is wonderful! I like some of these new colours which, as I said earlier, are really revived...

Seeing that Le Tricoteur has been revived, I am deciding which of the new (actually revived old) colours when I add to my collection. Either brown or charcoal I think.

That's very interesting as we have a wide range of accents within relatively small areas. Even here in London there are differences between north and south. In the Southampton area, there are two rival accents, one resembling London and south-east England, the other more rustic and influenced by...

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

I prefer more rugged military sweaters but I did have one of these many years ago and would consider one again - in the right size!

    Military 'woolly pully' sweaters

Yes, that's the same as a Navy jumper I had as a teenager (although I was never a Deckhand, I should add). Curiously, although it is a men's jumper (sweater to our American friends) and would only have been worn by men, it has been listed by ebay in the women's section! Had you not seen it, I...

I would never wear anything acrylic. Not ever. Only 100% wool will do.
