Purchased two of the above, a Vintage B-15 USA Made, and a USA Made MA-1. Both off the Bay, and they will be here early next week. The decision was made after trying on numerous Alpha's in another country. I was quite impressed with the jackets.
Hope they fit and look as nice as the ones on the...
The thickness of the satin seemed heavy and very durable, compared to most any lightweight jacket. I just ordered an MA-1, and a B-15, both USA made at a very reasonable price. The decision to purchase was based on my fitting in Frankfurt...again, these jackets are WARM!
Did not notice any marking on the zipper. The weight and quality of the cuffs and knitted waistband was nearly as good as found on G&B.
Did not notice the button detail, or the pockets for any telltale info...was having too much fun trying all of them on!
The CWU jackets had dual labels, one...
Found a store near my hotel here in Frankfurt called NATO Supplies. It has nearly every jacket made by Alpha, except the B-15. Tried on the MA-1's, the CWU 45/P's, the B-3's, N-3B's, both in satin and leather.
These jackets did not state country of origin, but they did NOT say made in...
Your points are well taken. Guess you can count me in the "value" oriented group as I am quite pleased with my G&B plus US Wings (Schott) jackets. They will not win any awards for true authenticity, but as stated, they represent an extremely good example of what is available in the $400-$450...
Something else is the perceived value of the item. In the case of G&B, there certainly are more expensive jackets available. But when you approach perfection, as G&B does, the extra money spent is rapidly diminishing on the return aspect.
A more perfect hem line? A better stitch? Better knits...
OK, I might agree there are some better reproductions with regards to authenticity, but the stitching, detail, knits, and overall quality can't be beat in my book when it comes to G&B.
My A2 is perfect in every way that concerns me, and at $400 I consider it fair priced.
Styling details are a...

The Type B-10 flying jacket was standardized for the USAAF on July 22nd 1943, being the first cloth flying jacket adopted by the USAAF, as a replacement for the leather flying jackets. The lining material was an alpaca-and-wool blend, which was less bulky...
I contacted the company and they claimed that their factory was in Shanghai, China. Yes, just being "made in China" does not automatically make it a poor product. I have some electronic components of Chinese origin that are world class.
Was hoping someone on this forum would have some "touchy...
Found a very nice looking USAF B-10 replica on the Bay for $189 including shipping. Looks like a very warm jacket with the Alpaca/wool lining and fur collar.
They (Quartermaster Inspector) claim to supply clothing to the movie industry. Are these jackets any good? I do know they are...
So, which jacket of the two is warmer? The B-15? Or, are they both equally adept at holding in body heat? I did find a local surplus store that has the Vintage MA-1's, USA made, for $99.
