Sorry, to me it's a Saturday Night Fever look. I realize it has precedents earlier, but I'm afraid the disco era ruined it for me.
Some folks definitely pull it off with panache, and I'll bet you're one, but I detest the way it looks on me. To each their own, I suppose.

I'd say that in the 90 years since Prohibition started, the cocktail has risen to be something of an artform in and of itself. Good quality spirits only enhance a well-made cocktail.

I'd say it's a belt loop, for fastening it down when worn as part of your web gear instead of with a shoulder strap. I love vintage Swiss Army stuff: It's well made, stylish, and extremely durable. Very cool bag.

Wow, lots to mull over here.
I broke my Burma Shave brush this morning, and was thinking about upgrading when I buy a replacement.
I can't fathom paying more than $50 for a shaving brush, though!

I’ll be the one to defend Restoration Hardware: In an economy where everyone else has cheapened up their brand to try to appeal to a consumer who perceives himself to be hurting, I’m glad someone has decided to keep or exceed their previous standard.
Everything around here is starting to seem...
This morning's workwear brought to you by Jack Delano and the Shorpy photowebsite.
Only the woman on the left is wearing footwear I'd rely on for scrambling over steam locomotives. What's the headgear two of the three are wearing? It looks almost like a denim flatcap.

Edward,
There’s nothing so centralized as the National Trust (though we do have a National Trust for Historic Preservation that lobbies Congress and owns a few buildings), but there are a variety of historic preservation groups and mechanisms of which property owners can avail themselves if...
There's a Stars and Stripes article from the war that claims they were being made into slippers for convalescents.
I think a Great War thread is appropriate. The generally accepted timeframe for the Golden Era around here seems to be between the wars, so a lot of what we appreciate has its...
