Too bad I’m not closer, I’d not only get them off the float and take them to the beer tent, I’d buy them each a couple beers.
My dad and grandfather were both proud USAAF/USAF veterans, but neither belonged to a veteran’s group or wore decorations. I always had a feeling that it was because...
I think somehow I became unsubscribed from this thread. That seems to happen occasionally, when I post a reply from my iPhone.
Is it coming, or going? ;)

John makes some excellent points. A lot can change on a vehicle in two or three (or more!) decades - either out of necessity, or in the nature of attempted improvement. I make it a point to figure out the original application for all the parts on my cars, so when I need to deal with...
If I hadn't won the vintage boater I did, I was planning to head on over to Henry the Hatter in Detroit to try out the Tesis. I've handled them, and they compare favorably to the vintage ones. Perhaps it would be most economical for you to purchase a Tesi and have it re-ribboned?

Whose vintage car sat for the winter? Mine was out and about in the salty slush.
Okay, the Camaro was safely entombed in my FIL's barn and should re-emerge soon.

My grandfather (the guy in my avatar) must have thought well of the Walther P-38, as he carried one instead of his 1911 during the later stages of WWII, and it was one of only two guns he held onto past the 1950s.

You're very lucky, then. I know lots of adults who say it. Somehow it bothers me more than "kindeegarden" and "spurghetti"; but not as much as "boughten" instead of "bought".

Heh, that’s half the reason I’ve been wearing bows more frequently as of late; I find it much easier to adjust the width of the bow than the length of a long tie. This has become especially important as I’ve dropped a little weight and my pants don’t want to stay at my waist anymore, so a tie...
That link didn't work, but I assume you're trying to link to this article on Court Uniform and Court Dress in the United Kingdom. It is interesting reading.

I have a similar issue - I worked with a guy one summer from Houghton-Hancock in Michigan's Upper Penninsula, and now when I'm exposed to people with that kind of accent, I seem to start trying to out Fargo them.

I agree with you on the painfulness of reading transcripts (I had to listen to a recording of a bench opinion the other day, and just hearing my own voice in that was bad enough - now I understand everything is going to be recorded and put in PACER), but I was taught that the particular phrase...
If length is the only thing holding them back, why not just shorten them? Get a safety pin and pin together eight inches or so in the back and see if they tie up okay.
