I need to post my thrift-store Stetson "Candidate" to this thread. It's a nice green color, but I can never quite think of what to wear it with. That and its stingy brim leaves me feeling a bit exposed!

I guess to me it would depend on what the weather is like down there at that time. If things resemble spring or summer in the northern latitudes, absolutely I'd wear seersucker.

My father always said “John Wayne never played anyone but John Wayne in a movie”, but that worked for him.
I suspect that’s the way a few other iconic actors also chose roles. A lot of emphasis is placed on an actor’s range, but I believe it’s a strength also to know the type of role you are...
Because it's supposed to be eighty degrees today, I broke a personal rule and wore the jacket from my new seersucker suit a few days early:
Not seen in this photo are off-white chinos and dirty bucs (replete with ink spots from dropping a fountain pen nearby, grr!).
I am holding fast...
Ah yes, the North American P-51D "Mustang". A truly classic design. Not my favorite, perhaps because of its ubiquity, but an undeniably beautiful and impressive piece of machinery.

Guess I’ll stick with my red-cotton union suit, then. :D
Actually, I mentioned these to my wife, and she went on a rant about how uncomfortable (women’s) pantyhose are, and how she couldn’t imagine why any man would voluntarily wear anything like them. So, I don’t think I’ll be acquiring any...
I've got until 1943! Maybe I'll just volunteer for the USAAF. My eyesight should keep me mostly out of the shooting.
Of course, I'd probably end up sent to the Phillipines over my vehement protests and wind up on the Bataan Death March.

I’m not sure what a “bot” is exactly, but I agree that prestige can inflate a price. What’s even better for parts availability is that if a now-desireable model (early Mustang) used bits common to a less-desireable model (early Falcon), the owner of the less desireable model can count on still...
Is your undergraduate degree dated from some time in the early thirties? Because I doubt my 2010-2011 bar card would permit me to practice law in any jurisdiction in 1937.
I guess my best hope would be to try and talk my way into a job in a law office and eventually take the (radically...
Not my holy grail by far (automotively, that’s probably a full-fendered ‘32 Ford roadster), but I happen to think the ‘59 Edsel Ranger four-door sedan is a really good looking car. The '58s are decent looking too, but I prefer the '59 styling.
My dad had a friend whose parents owned a ‘60...
I recall watching an old movie at my grandmother's house when I was in high school. She walked in, saw George Ranft on the screen, and said "Ohh, George Raft, he always wore spats." So somebody remembers his style, anyway, even if he's not often cited to like Clark Gable or Cary Grant.

For some reason, Nobert's story made me think of James Bond. They say Daniel Craig had to be taught how to drive a manual transmission for the latest films. One wonders if he also needed to be taught to tie a bow.

Most impressive. I'm reminded of the guys on the HAMB who find a '32 Ford sedan folded in half in a riverbank and rusted away to the beltline, and proceed to restore it into a like-new five-window coupe.

A rather ingenious thing. I’m a big fan of long underwear, and I could see these being a good warm-weather alternative. Modern dress pants are so thin, an extra layer is a nice thing.
I probably would buy the kind without feet, however, as I don’t wear sheer black dress socks often, so I’d...
