Well, how about these Maine hunting shoes (boots really) from L.L. Bean?
They've been made like this since about 1912. That would make them a vintage design still being produced. I have a pair of these and they are truly comfortable, have great traction, and are roomy enough for nice...
This afternoon The Untouchables was on tv. I caught about half of it before I had to go out. I think I'll be on the lookout for it to be on again. My wife's comment was , "Just about everyone in this movie is wearing those hats you like to wear."
If behind the ear protectors work for you, then great. They don't for me, however. Not enough clearance over my ears for the hat to sit securely with the protectors on. Also, protectors designed for over the head would be sideways when worn with the headband behind. Beside, I spent a fair...
If you wear headphone style hearing protection while shooting you won't be wearing a fedora. A ball cap is the thing there. Having been a flight crew member in the 60's a ball cap feels more natural with my G-1 and even my A-2. Again, it's from wearing headphones. I'm not wearing an...
And we're back from a very nice dinner celebrating Valentine's Day one day early. And we'll do it again next Valentine's Day :D
OK, and quite often throughout the year too. See, no one says you have to only do this sort of thing on Valentine's. Or that you need Hallmark's assistance.
I have a Milt Sparks VM-2 IWB for my Ruger SP-101 .357 coming soon that's been on order since August. Should be produced this month (I hope). I'm hoping it will work well under my A-2, G-1, and just about anything else.
They would have used a shoulder holster such as:
But concealment wasn't the issue. It was carrying the .45 in a manner that didn't interfere with comfort and keeping the pistol from getting in the way of piloting or getting tangled up in harnesses and straps.
Don't confuse us older types recounting the things we liked in the old days with an inability to remember the bad things. Who wants to hear about all the bad things anyway?
Like cousins in iron lungs (polio). Hiding under school desks as "protection" from an anticipated nuclear attack...
I'm 62 and people in general seem about the same today as in the past. Most will respond to politeness with politeness. And rudeness with rudeness. Be polite (and patient) first instead of waiting for the other guy to be polite and see what happens.
Having the right and permit to carry a concealed pistol is not the same thing as routinely doing so.
Additionally, in most states here having a loaded pistol in the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle is considered a concealed weapon and illegal without a concealed carry permit...
I have to second the motion that a 1911 is just too heavy to carry in a jacket pocket of any kind. I have carried mine in a G-1 inside pocket, but it really drags the coat down. Doesn't print through much, though.
My A-2 clone is much too thin and has no inside pocket anyway. IWB holster...
I was watching a tv program the other night (Best Defense, I think) where they were firing different weapons, from 9mm on up to 12 ga side to side, through and through water jugs inside a fridge at a target on the far side.
If I ever thought a refrigerator provided any cover protection I was...
If you really are interested, and have a Kindle, a lot of the Radio Boys books are available for free on Amazon in that format. Just search on Radio Boys and you'll find them. Same for the Tom Swift books.
I haven't looked on Amazon for other series like those, but I'm betting there are...
