That pretty well sums it up for me.
3D was a plus, but frankly I'd have enjoyed it with or without 3D.
As for plots, well I can't say I've seen anything in years that I couldn't find done previously at some level. And that particular plot line has been done many times in SCIFI as...
I have a Kindle and love it.
After living in the same house for more than 30 years there just isn't anywhere to put another book. It kills me to throw away a book, even if I know in my heart I'm not going to reread it.
Kindle solves that particular problem rather handily. Not only do I...
I did have a rather ardent feminist ask me one time, "Don't you think I can open that door for myself?"
My reply while continuing to hold the door, "Of course I do."
After that, no problems.
I've worn hats of one kind or another most of my 62 years. But I have to admit that the first fedora I ever bought was after Raiders of the Lost Ark came out. Followed shortly by purchasing an Open Road.
Between going bald on top 25 years ago and a couple of skin cancer removals over the...
I've been storing my hats in what were supposed to be hat boxes. Today I was looking through my collection and discovered that my Biltmore Panama was looking kind of dingy and yellowing. I don't remember it looking that way last time I wore it last summer.
It occurs to me that my hat boxes...
Well, I'm in my 60's, so probably not too young :-)
My crowd tended more towards PJ (Purple Jesus) and the Green GD (which I won't spell out) for our rotgut. Both of which depended on Everclear for their kick and various fruit juices and Ginger Ale for color.
I prefer a tie tack over a bar. But, if I'm concerned about damaging the tie and the tie has a loop on the back to hold the skinny end I just put the tack through the loop. Keeps the tie in place, is invisible, and doesn't damage the tie fabric.
I have to say that I have ties I've owned for...
I did search this thread, but may have missed it. So I'll sign up to be the local radio and appliance repairman if the job's not already taken. Along with being the local ham radio operator, which I actually am :-)
Saw it yesterday in IMAX 3D. Definitely the way to go. A visual treat and a good scifi movie to boot. Stunning really.
The audience sat there pretty much stunned throughout. I don't think I saw anyone go for more popcorn or even a restroom break.
A+++
Admittedly cherry-picking from a rather lengthy post, but that comment about timelessness cuts to the nub of the matter for me.
If you carefully choose the elements of your wardrobe that work best together, suit your particular frame and have that look of class it almost doesn't matter what...
I was on air crew in the Navy in the late 60's. Our navigator, Wrong Way Smerzniak, attempted to use a periscope sextant, LORAN C, inertial navigation computer, Doppler radar unit and I think a red banded cane.
Most of the time the pilot ended up using dead reckoning while the radar...
Many stalls have coat hooks on the inside of the door. Just hang what you have to remove there. No problems. Yes, it takes an extra step or two, but it's just not that big of a deal. Gives you a chance to get everything straightened out again afterward.
I cook a traditional Thanksgiving dinner each year (turkey, dressing, ham, mashed potatoes, baked beans, etc.), but on Christmas we do a Chinese hot pot. My wife is Chinese.
For those not familiar with that, think fondue, but in broth instead of oil, with thin sliced beef, shrimp, and...
Lizzie,
You give better repair advice than most formally trained electronic technicians!
Very impressive. Pay close attention to what the lady says, guys.
