I didn't say they were similar companies or had similar business practices. I just pointed out that every company ( even one as almost universally beloved as Aero) has it's share of people who are dissatisfied with service or a product or whatever. Some people may have bad a bad experience with...
Even a company as esteemed as Aero, with it's legendary customer service and ability to walk one through the jacket ordering experience, has it's detractors. You just can please all of the people all of the time.
It's almost like the use of steer hide in original WWII A-2 jackets. There were always rumors and a lot of guesswork about manufacturers surreptitiously using steer hide to fill USAAF contracts for "horsehide" a-2 jackets. Until Gary's book and the definitive DNA testing of the hides, there was...
And yet an ELC costs the same as the superior Goodwear and more then an Aero. If ELC wants to be considered in the same elite class as other premier makers, they ought to produce better knits. Their cuffs and waistbands have been a detracting issue for years and have not yet been improved.
I got tired of searching and hoping and waiting so I just took the plunge and bought a new LW A-2 in size 46 long (good luck finding one of them on eBay!). BEST fitting leather jacket I have ever owned (and I've tried them all!). Fit, quality, materials, all top notch. And the leather is simply...
The breaking in of a LW (or any new leather jacxket) is half the fun. In a world full of demand for instant gratification, it's nice to do things the old-fashioned way...slow and steady with patience and, ultimately, the reward of a broken-in jacket that is molded to your specific shape, every...
Hello Fanch. The LW A-2 is a work of divine quality workmanship. Thick, rich, rugged russet brown HH that is chrome-tanned and nearly indestructible! You can specify anything up to 4.0/4.5oz hide but I go for their medium-heavy 3.0/3.5 oz weight. When you talk to Stuart at LW he will ask for...
I have always found LW A-2 jackets to have ideal armhole placement (at least for me). No worries about high or low armholes that may affect wearing comfort or overall fit.
I've had quite afew Aero A-2's of various contracts and leather types and the fit was always hit or miss. My size 46 LW...
The extra chest pockets on the Filson button-down vest are a nice touch. Very convenient for pens, mag-light, whatever. A very warm vest that is well made and perfect to wear under a waist-length leather jacket. I have one in charcoal gray and love it.
I agree with Brettafett. If it's a tad uncomfortable exchange it for one size larger. You'll be doing a lot more in your jacket (hopefully) then standing still with your arms at your sides and will want a more comfortable fit. Go for the 38.
