I wonder if they measured and traced the D-pocket on Mysteryo's jacket when he sent it in (before substituting it for the requested handwarmer).
I am interested in pursuing this but if I were to I would request the copy pattern without any adjustments for my size.
I'm similarly tempted to go for your model's exact measurements. Hell, if they measured the D-pocket of your J-82 I would maybe even go for that for minimal modification from them.
I know a size 42 original Buco is unwearably small for me so a 46 is probably the smallest I could wear.
Some of the former military pilots here might have more direct advice but my feeling is the wrinkles would just go from wearing and letting it shake out that way. The overall look is part of the charm.
Odd. I just ordered a whole bunch of stuff from them earlier this summer and got charged 20% less, too, due to VAT refund.
I actually need to sell one of the things I got (deadstock RAF sunglasses that are *stunning* but the temples are just slightly too short for me).
I doubt they're counterfeit Bronsons.
I expect there are a couple of factories pumping out this stuff some of which gets labeled Bronson, Bob Dong, etc, and this shop is probably selling direct from there. My understanding anyway was that the whole "Bronson" thing was just a western facing...
It's valuable feedback!
I screwed myself on some jackets by going too short because I copied the jacket lengths of some TFL members whose styles I like, not considering that they were shorter than me.
This kind of feedback helps keep someone from expensive mistakes. That said the Comet isn't...
Ha, that reminds me of how Rick Owens has a hideous shoe called the "Ramone" that's an oversized Chuck Taylor because many people mistakenly think they wore Converse. In fact they wore Pro-Keds.
I’d be surprised if he didn’t given he’s a 60s/70s guy with a writing background and guitar collection.
Ramones tour manager Monte Melnick who we met last year might actually know more. Monte and Tommy were already making music and in the industry before Tommy came up with the Ramones, so I’d...
I discovered somewhat by accident that Stu is an alumnus of Forest Hills High School. If he’s from right around the same era as the Ramones went there, I’m thinking it goes back to some personal beef!
I second this. So many people enter this hobby via a custom Aero, and while the jacket is usually great, there probably isn't a single person who wouldn't have done something differently on that jacket.
One way to get to know what works for you is to get a used Aero, as Canuck mentions...
You can get a custom Vanson for a 15% surcharge; this charge covers both fit changes and alternative leathers.
If you want Chromexcel in particular, you could go Johnson Leathers in SF. Price point is comparable to Aero but the patterns are really built for riding.
