Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

After trying on the jackets, your post now makes sense to me. The sizing has changed; the new 44 fits identically to my 42.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

I am a massive fan of Sugar Cane and every one of their leather jackets I've seen has blown me away, yet I pretty much never see them for sale even on Japanese sites. Ha the Japanese stores do this when posting sizing pics of every item.

Johnson Leathers Black Cherry Bison jacket

Looks like they have followed in the tradition of many non-Anglo brands (the French started this practice; Americans and Brits do it with French and Italian) and adopted a fake English name. https://www.briselblack.com/

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

If you want the shine to go away, I would not get the 613SH (although I would suggest you approach it with an open mind because the way the shine turns into this rich glimmer as the grain pops is beautiful). But if you really can't stand shine, ask to see the 613S. Same jacket, but in a matte...

Johnson Leathers Black Cherry Bison jacket

When I handled our shrunken horse for the first time, I was reminded of the Montana. Do you happen to know if it's the same tanning process?

    Five Star Leather Jackets

Yes the sizing is generally wider to fit over a flight suit. But I asked because you won’t see the shoulder fit on the later versions.

    Five Star Leather Jackets

Is your nylon a 1950s original (or Buzz Rickson’s repro thereof)? Later batches, both military and civilian, use a much lighter nylon and are constructed differently. Five Star’s MA-1 pattern is based on those originals that a flight jacket collector sent them to study.

    Five Star Leather Jackets

You can see it happening in this photo of Marilyn Monroe for example. And leather makes it much more pronounced because the originals were a very silky nylon.

    CVC Tanker Jacket Sizing?

You definitely don't want a "short" size; you're at or above the average height of a WWII American serviceman.

    Darkening leather jacket

The tinted conditioners will be fine (they are not dyes and are used on shoes much more expensive than our jackets) but if he plays around with actual dye this could go very poorly.

Johnson Leathers Black Cherry Bison jacket

I know what you mean. I've been put off by some forms of grain even as a big fan of it.

    Five Star Leather Jackets

I agree that the blemish sucks but I'm not concerned about the shoulder fit because I think that's just part of it being an MA-1 (and one in leather at that). Honestly at this price point I wouldn't personally care much about the blemish because I wouldn't at all feel bad about patching up the...

Haha the first such photo I posted here was in response to you.

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

Looks the same but the pattern wears smaller.

How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Vanson tag on the zipper pull. I think the Momoa one was also Vanson.

Hidden in Plain Schott: the 613SH Perfecto

I was at the LA Schott store yesterday to try on the 618HH in the new thicker horsehide (feels identical to the hide on the 613SH), and discovered that both jackets seem to run a size smaller now. Where the 618HH ran slightly bigger than the 613SH (due to the underarm footballs and slightly...

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

Bad photo but stunning, like-new women’s suede Californian at American Rag in LA for $250. There’s a rich golden cast to it in real life.

    Vanson! Vanson! Vanson!

I don’t think it’s Horween but I think those zippers mean it’s comp weight horsehide.
