Yes, I am referring to "unit" patches and the like. Such as 24th Infantry Division, etc. I already have a very nice leather embossed name-tag...looks real nice with the CIB badge embossed.
Is it kosher to put cloth patches on leather jackets? Yes? No? If not, why not? I have placed (not sewn on) some cloth patches on my leather A-2 just for experimentation, and it it looks OK to me. Actually, looks pretty good.
Great looking A-2. Looks as good as any I've seen around here! It looks similar to my Alpha A-2, even the lining and the coat hook are identical. Was it made in Pakistan? Of course, the Alpha is goatskin, and darker in color...very dark brown.
I spent the first 19 years of my life growing up in Iowa. Bitterly cold winters, with real temps hitting -25 F...that is -31 C for you other types. Good place for a B-3, and some good underwear!
Living here in North Texas, this past winter a B-3 would have gotten a good workout! But this has been a very cold winter, by Texan standards!
My good friend just had a B-3 made by G&B in a size 44R. It fit me perfectly, and I'm a size 40-42R. I can easily wear a medium, or a large size...
They certainly could make a small fortune doing this, but that would have to go thru McQueen's estate with royalties etc. Too much trouble and expense for Alpha to deal with. And...they are selling jackets about as fast as they make them anyway.
OK...he is not a member here. Perhaps I can sneak a few photos over at his house. The coat is very luxurious in feel, and not as "heavy" as I would have thought.
Now, about those pics...
A good friend had G&B make him a B-3 in a size 44R. The coat is beautiful! Very, very warm. And, it fit me perfectly. My normal coat size is a 40, or 42R. This B-3 seemed small. Perhaps it is all that fur that takes up so much space.
Anyway, a gorgeous coat. Another satisfied customer of G&B...
Tried to register there. They (like here) have a stupid question to answer that even after answering correct 3 times in a row, still says "incorrect response". Ugh!
Hoping that one of the talented individuals here will respond. The original person we were working with seems to no longer wish to communicate with us...have not heard from him in awhile now.
So hope to find a person who enjoys this sort of thing and is a good communicator!
So here is an "All...
Looking for someone who can make a custom painted leather patch for an A-2 jacket. I already know what we want, just need a person who can translate our ideas into reality.
Please advise if anyone on this forum does this, or if you can recommend someone outside of this forum.
Thanks!
No embossed logo on the jacket. 5' 11", 172 lbs. I can wear a size "M" or "L" without any problems. Should have ordered my G&B in a 40R instead of a 42R. This medium Alpha is a great fit. This is the perfect "beater" jacket. Just wish we did not have to send it back! Look close and you can see...
Update: We have chosen the Cockpit A-2 jacket (Cockpit USA). Made in the USA, good price. Hope this works out! It has been ordered and should be at our front door in a few days.
The patches (in leather) will be the same size as the cloth versions. As for TCpl, or Cpl Tech...not really sure. The rank was eliminated back in the 50's. I believe that he was referred to as "Corporal" during his time on the front line.
Just visited my parents. He will be happy with the...
Well...it's here (Alpha A-2 brown goat).
First, the good news. The size "M" fits me spot on! Better than my G&B 42R. The knits are pretty good, as good or better than my Schott G-1, but not quite as nice as my G&B A-2. The color is a very dark brown, in line with my G-1 and A-2, but a bit more...
Yes, I know. Leaning towards G&B as they offer side entry (hand warmer) pockets. Already stated, but the quality of the Alpha jacket was first rate. Everything from the stitching, to the cuffs / waistband, to the shell material.
Plus we intend to do some customizing thru the use of patches...
