Yes...he will! You should have seen him trying on our various jackets. Had my friend bring his new G&B B-3 over as a bit of a "smoke screen". We will go with the Cockpit USA A-2 in a 40R. Nice jacket. Might buy one for myself. Already have a G&B A-2. Shhhhhhhh...don't tell my wife!
Yes, exactly! The entire coat is soft as warm butter. It wraps around you perfectly, and with almost no effort. The only problem is that our friend (in Denton, TX) will have little use for the B-3...unless we have more winters like the last one!
Fanch: As usual, you are spot on. It is a civil B-3. The owner did not want the dual straps, thus the civil version was ordered. A very nice coat, for sure. Great warmth...but it is a bit small in size. 44R, but smaller than my 42R A-2, both from G&B.
Excellent ideas from both you guys! Keep in mind we are seeking leather patches for this. The cloth ones are bright, for sure. And I'll save $20 and not order the black name tag!

Still cheap...
Let me see if I can sneak in some pics of the Cockpit USA A-2...
Let me know if these look OK. Again, cloth patches for reference only. Leather ones are being painted as this is being written.
I thought the cloth patches looked OK. It will be simple in style, with the 24th ID patch (3 1/4" - left sleeve), Western Pacific Theater patch (3 1/4" - right sleeve), US Army 5" patch (right breast), and name tag...got one in leather and one in cloth. They both look really great.
His rank...
Correct, a tribute jacket. And it will incorporate many suggestions from you and others. The badges & medals my Dad was decorated with were definitely earned, the hard way. Seeing action on the front lines (1944-1945), operating a Browning .50 cal automatic...
As for the A-2, it was worn by D...
