Hi, Folken,
I used to lurk in the jacket forum and today was my first and only foray into this pit of pathetic paranoia of the so called politically correct right wing.
The really sad part is you don't understand how pathetic you really are.
Learn compassion for your fellow man before...
Hi, Nick,
It still is way more fun building models or discussing the last flight you had.
It would seem that this thread - left to its own devices - has come to its inevitable end.
No reason to close it down - just let it run down.
Thanks,
Bill French
Hi, Denise,
It's fine to return to doing the dishes - I may well join you.
But I find that when I get all emotional about a political stance I also realize it's attacking my beliefs - Then it's time for a reevaluation of the facts - quietly and see if I want to change my mind.
I...
Hi, Folks,
It isn't often I post here - mostly a lurker on the Jacket section.
I'm curious as to why you shut down the thread on Good Night and Good Luck rather than move it here to the Observation Lounge where you list politics as one of the options.
It was an interesting and quite...
Hi, airfrogusmc,
I think I'm getting it now.
The higher end leather is tanned with a base color - say tan - then coated by some means with another color that will wear off and expose the base through time. The better leather grades having few defects doesn't need covering just a thin layer...
Hi, airfrogusmc,
I always thought that the higher end repro makers used drum dyed leather also with an aniline dye then a light surface pigment for protection.
Is it this pigment that your are referring to as rubbing off to show the base color underneath?
That's the one problem with the...
Hi, Allen,
That's a question I've never had answered to my satisfaction - just how much difference is there between the horsehide US A would use and that by RMNZ?
Is it a day and night difference or maybe just the different protective coatings used that make the way a jacket wears?
Bill...
Yes - that would be nice cause an inside wallet pocket now costs $100.00 and drives the price up to $369.00 - not that far away from the G&B price.
The one fantastic thing about is that the custom fee of $100.00 sure allows for a lot of options for the jacket.
So basic price of $269.00...
Hi, Paddy,
Looked at the original post and entirely missed your intent - but it's still doable with the proper RW original with a missing name tag and needing a reline.
There's probably plenty of RWs in poor shape and small size that could qualify.

Hi, Folks,
The same post - word for word - was done on VLJ III and he received good comments.
The zipper repair / replacement was also answered there.
I'll give the same answer - wear the jacket until the zipper needs replacing - in the meantime find a nos Talon on eBay...
Real McQueen jacket
Hi, Sam,
If you are a small size - 42 or lower - I'd look for an original and as Paddy has said put a V. Hilts name tag on it.
If the jacket has no known history then it'll be all imaginary - but it'll also be the most realistic McQueen.
And probably less...
Hi, Allen,
I think you'll be ok with the FS russet goat - the color closely matches the Werber in your pics - give that zip a home.
You'll find the shoulders are going to be to your liking also - recommend you get a try on before commiting to a special order.

Hi, Allen,
It's breaking in nicely - soft and supple - collar lays down like a lazy dog.
Here's a composite of a RW 18091 and an earlier FS A-2 goat - both taken from JC's cd. Mine is coming along nicely - I'm surprised how well a Lexol treatment chabged the character of the jacket.
Here's...
Hi, Folks,
For any of you VLJ members, a hacker got into the database and messed up the forum.
Chris, the site admin is requesting all to rejoin at the address below.

Hi, airfrogusmc,Duane and Paddy,
Seems as if we're always going to be outside looking in at the BR jackets.
Looks as if we'll have to buy the factory to get them to make jackets in our sizes.

Hi, Havana,
I have a FS historical veg tanned gaot A-2. The Mark 31.
Very supple leather that weighs no more than a heavy shirt.
Comes in a russet with a silk lining.
Sizing is true to size and maybe a little large. You may need the next smaller size for that trim fit especially if...
Hi, Folks,
Just a question for Dr. Strangelove - I think.
I seem to remember one of the members visiting a friend to show a jacket and immediately the sleeves were shortened.
Was that Dr. Strangelove?
And if so could you give me more info as I feel that the sleeves on my FS...
