Mallory Homburgs - Sen. Guy M. Gillette
I recently bought two Homburgs owned by Sen. Gillette [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Gillette], who was in the U.S. Senate in the 1930-40s, and again in the 1950s (also up for auction were his derby and a top hat). The Homburgs are an Adam (which...
If any one is interested, I have listed a 1940s-50s Mallory Homburg in the classifieds:

Mallory Diplomat Homburg – black, size 7-3/8. Approximate 2+” ribbon bound brim (not including curl) and 5.25” crown, as bashed. Excellent condition, and very soft and comfortable hat. Lining has age spots, as shown (that’s the only flaw I can find). Paper “DIPLOMAT” tag in the front, cloth...
If you are looking at my Avitar, I see what you mean. That particular hat is (was) a 7-1/4 that has been stretched to a 3/8, but it fits pretty well too. It might have been sitting a slight angle when I took that picture.
This one is actually on my printer - could that be it? :) Actually, I wear a 7-3/8 in most hats, occasionally a 7-1/2, but most are a little too loose. The ones I have seem to fit fine, and are comfortable - might be my poor camera phone photography skills?
Yesterday actually, and my son is wearing his vintage Lucchese with a Fort Worth cattleman bash (it is the only Lucchese hat I've ever come across - apparently they used to make more than just boots - very nice fur felt hat - unknown vintage - 1950s at least). You must start them on thin ribbons...
Shepler's Stetson Open Road 3X
I just got this vintage Stetson Open Road (not marked OR) 3X, made for Shepler's - unknown vintage (1970s maybe?). Overall good condition (but headed out for a cleaning) and a great color.
More pics when it comes back home.
Thanks - the color is little different after a good cleaning! The original liner is still in it, but the sweatband was in bad shape and was replaced. The sweatband was a dark brown, marked for the store that sold it, and it also marked as a 2X ("XDoubleX") - I think said it was a 3X in another...
I am very happy with their work. I bought a Dobbs a recently thinking it was a homburg, turned out to be dented derby. I took it to Paris Hatters and it was hard to believe it was the same hat picking it up.
Here is a vintage (Byer-Rolnick) Resistol I won in an auction a couple of weeks ago. The measurements were a little off and it was too small for me - I planned to get it cleaned & sell it, but Abe at Paris Hatters talked me into a stretch and a restoration. Here is end result - cleaned...
