I certainly am not an Atavist and have no skin in the name eventually picked. But watching the naming process here is interesting and exposes some people and thought processes to me that I haven't really come into contact with myself. I certainly don't feel unkindly towards those wrestling...
Oh, I have other chains. This one was just for the discussion about not having a watch pocket and to prototype a solution. But to answer your question, I haven't had any problems with it slipping off my trousers. I attribute that to being behind my belt and I'm pretty careful to keep the clip...
My favorite flying experiences were while on aircrew sitting in the nose of a P2-V7 Neptune taking pictures of Russian submarines at 300 ft. altitude. This very one.
Two turning and two burning. Engines, that is.
Ex Batman from VP24 here.
Thanks for the clarifications, Jack and Lizzy.
Being a "Lounger" and not a "whatever the word is" myself I now see that I was confused and erroneously took the original question in a much broader context than it was intended. As perhaps a number of people did.
After being on a navy flight crew for a couple of years in the 60's I chose to never fly again. Afraid? Yeah, in the same way I'm afraid to drive my car off a cliff.
Lizzie, of all the people I've seen post here you are, to me anyway, least in need of a label. A person like you cuts a swath through life and anyone who takes more than just a cursory look can clearly see you. The closest I <might> come to a label would be "eccentric". But I never use that...

For everyone else, it's just part time play...
I do see your point. For the record, I got the idea from this:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1042702/Time-Warp-Wives-Meet-women-really-live-past.html
Seems to be a good summary to me.
But I don't think that the majority of this group necessarily clings to the past. There are clearly those who do, maybe even the majority of those who actively post, but who knows?
I suggest a poll based on the 3 categories Edward posited and let's see...
We just used to say people dressing 40's style were old fashioned. But I guess after 70 years that doesn't even begin to cover it. Anachronistic comes closer.
After wearing the prototype on the right today I'd say that it works ok. But it is just a little harder to put the watch back in my pocket and catch the hook without messing around with it some.
The first option (on the left) I can put back in my pocket without fumbling around. It is also...
