    "Bash." Not a hatter's term?

I have to admit that I didn't know that bashing a hat was a good thing before stumbling onto this site. I know that when my car gets bashed it's a bad thing.

    Watch Chains

Almost all the double Albert pictures I just googled have a drop on the t-bar. Like this one for example. Which also has an extra piece for a fob, key, or other decoration as well.

    Watch Chains

You are certainly correct about the bar being centered. I was guessing that a significant amount of the chain was hanging down inside the bib behind the button hole. Maybe with a knife on it. Or attached to something inside.

Hats In The Car/A Newbie Question

Nothing's wrong with you. I'm going to guess that you drive with the seat run back far enough so your arms are almost straight out at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel and the seat is leaning back as well. Like in a sports car. As opposed to the seat back straight up and down and you hunched...

    Steamer or kettle?

As soon as the steam is released it's at whatever the pressure is outside the vessel, isn't it? And therefore at the same temperature as steam from a kettle? At least more than a fraction of an inch away from the nozzle.

Or eat at places where the waitress calls you 'honey'.

    Watch Chains

I won't repost the picture above, it is a little large, but I just now noticed that t-bar hanging down below the button hole. Makes me wonder if the engineer actually was wearing a double Albert there with one end through the button hole. He could then use the same chain on Sunday with the...

    Watch Chains

You'd likely wear it that way with bib overalls. If you were a locomotive engineer. :) Note the strategically placed button hole.

    Look near the Duke's.

    You might be an Atavist.

If you'd rather wind a watch than change its batteries. If you know how to rebuild a carburetor, and need to. If wireless means "radio" and not "router" to you. If your router is a hand tool and not a computer accessory. If you prefer paper over plastic because you don't trust your...

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

Lizzy, does your house have old fashioned glass fuses and surface mounted exposed double wire stapled wiring with cloth insulation? Rotary light switches? Knob and tube I think it's called. My grandmother's did until the late 50's.

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

Now that sounds like something a steampunk would build. ;) I might have plans for one around here somewhere.

What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

Just about time for another drive over to Burlington to JR's.

Or good pocket watches. One of the reasons we treasure our old ones.

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

The shrinks probably do have a name for your condition. If you're looking for a less clinical name you can use publicly to avoid the possible stigma of the clinical name I'd suggest that you ask a shrink. Helping you with that sort of problem (the naming if it) should be within scope, unless...

    Retro-extremists? What are we called?

Maybe it's time to take a break and go watch "Man of the Century". :p

    Pocket Watch Question

Nice chain. I like it. I have spent literally hours googling for the proper findings. Just haven't found any, yet. Discovered all kinds of other finding I didn't know about though. :)
