I think this is a compromise from Aero and I think it needs slightly more taper perhaps by lowering the belts or just removal of material.
I thought two rows of buttons would look too flash. I was after subtlety with style.
I have suggested a possible name change to Will at Aero, lets see what he thinks. I know the German market is a big part of Aero's business, so maybe it could be called Kradjacke on German web sites.
I think Rad will appeal to English speaking customers.
The cuffs on the old mule jacket were rather crude. I'd seen this design some where else so I asked for it here. The original jacket also had double thickness leather on the shoulders and elbows but that would have been a superhuman effort for the machinist to achieve. I also dropped the...
Rufus,
It's a copy of a very old jacket I have. It was a gift from someone in Berlin.
This is the second jacket I have had made, the first one was too long.
I am quite chuffed with the result and told Will how pleased I am.
If anyone wants one just contact Amanda at Aero.
I'll see what...
It's back !
A completely new jacket that is 3 inches [75 mm] shorter and 2 inches [ 50 mm]tighter around the waist. I also followed Dave's suggestion to take 1 inch [25 mm ] off the sleeves. The alpaca lining is dark chocolate brown, the sleeves are lined with purple satin.
The leather is...
Don't want to be a party pooper, but remember all the materials are imported so end product prices will go up when current material stocks are replaced.
I once tried on a V.de.R at Grand Prix Racewear and the leather was very heavy, and very stiff. It could take years to break in. If I am correct it's made from Heavy FQHH.
Hope you strong thumbs for those buttons ...
This is a copy of a jacket that someone gave me. I was told it is a 1930's m/c jacket. Will at Aero says it's typical of Spanish Civil War jackets. The original is very small at about a size 30 or less. It's also rotten as a pear.
Unfortunately the jacket Aero made is about 3 to 4 inches [...
Erik,
You are like me. You started something and hung on until you had finished the project. I, like others here am a big fan of German jackets. Was your jacket expensive to make ?
Here's a copy of a 1930's bike jacket that Aero are making for me. This is the first attempt, but it is too...
I agree that ELC make the best Irvin repro . RMNZ don't make one but their specialised sub company The Few does. I have only seen photos of the jacket, but do have a skin sample. The sample looks like a piece of skin from a mummified sheep. The wool is a dead orange colour and the leather...
Yes, I agree. In a sense it is a type of 'poor service ', but I think Gary can be forgiven as it's a very small operation down there in deepest Devon. I wonder if cider has anything to do with it ?
I have just sent a message to Gary. It was returned because of a delivery failure. There are...
