I have an EB down sleeping bag from the 70's. There are no comparably made products on the market today, that's ZERO! Granted my EB weights 3x-4x what a new down bag weights but I don't take it hiking so I don't give a hoot.
EB of today is just pathetic. Marginal quality, high price, poor...
I too, am glad this thread was started. I have been using the Vastisy disposibles for years but have been reluctant to make the jump to a "real" fountain pen in part because I have not felt comfortable that I knew enough to make at least a semi-informed decision. I am not there yet but I am a...
Looking for a pair of well built capped toe brown shoes. WELL BUILT is the key - I want a pair that will last a very long time with truly classic design. Seems to be a simple request and not too much to ask for, right?
Any direction would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Thinking of ordering a pair of gold Ronwinnes with cables. From reading this thread is sounds like the quality is pretty good. Has any one had a pair of these for a few years? I wonder how they'll hold up.
Glad to see this thread. I am a "lefty" and have a heck of a time writing with pens - virtually any pen (ball point, felt, you name it), except the Pilot Varsity. That's about the only pen I ever use anymore and I buy them by the box.
Back to the original topic/question, what's a good pen...
I don't want to be seen as anyone but me. The way I dress is a direct reflection of my style and personality and I am not trying to copy anyone. Why a fedora instead of a ball cap? I wear a hat to guard against the elements. I wear a fedora because 75% of the time a ball cap is inappropriate...
I am kind of a work in progress when it comes to hats. Definitly not a stingy brim kind of guy and I prefer a taller open crown. I may try a smaller brim - kind of like Depp's in PE.
Just got back from three very warm and humid days in NYC, my first visit in 3-years and my first visit in the summer in 20+years. I was realy surprised by the number of Panama's and knock-offs I saw being warn around lower Manhattan, Tribecca and Soho. Is that a new trend or old news? When I...
My LHB is breaking in nicely and I can't wait to start wearing it this fall. I am sure on rainy and/or cold days I'll also wear a hat (Camp Draft, Fed IV, or yet to be aquired lid). Aside from not carrying a whip and a gun how does one avoid the Raiders looks and comments?
Perterra,
What polish do you use on your Russels? I have a pair os Sheep Hunters that I had resoled with a lighter Vibram sole to make them a little more practical. Great boots - love em.

I think Kimber makes the best off the shelf, new, 1911 for the money right now. They are extremely accurate right out of the box, very well made and readily available.
Who makes the best 1911? I guess it really comes down to what you want the gun for. If you want a nostalgic piece, look for...
As luck would have it I am in Chicago week after next. Planning two side trips: the Biograph and Optimo. Does anyone know of the Biograph is still operational? It would be pretty cool to go to the Biograph tonight to see a movie.
Beautiful boots, pretty much exactly what I am looking for, but gawd they are not cheap. The Wolverine "Darby" is supposed to be out this fall - I think I'll wait and see how they look.

Ok, the short answer is probably the one that I like. However, as with pretty much any article of clothing, there are does and don'ts so what are the basic guidelines for determining if a hat is "right" for a given shape of the face, shape of the head, coloration, etc.
