Seems they were like the Cavanaugh hats with keeping older styles for a while....
The reeded sweat attachment and stiched seem as well as the tip printing and even the ribbon all indicate a much later hat.
Still......a way cool find!!

AND 1915.......a really, really cool ad that the illustration emulates the popular multigraph photographs of the time!!! Here is a link to one of my photo-postcards that itself, has a link to some more multigraph image information...
1933 with a cool NRA logo (not THAT NRA, though I have a cool Stetson 4X special edition NRA labeled, lined, sweat stamped AND with a sterling NRA pin for THAT NRA)...........and five named styles available "at the Better Stores"!!!:eek:;):)
OK, I have had this 50's 3X in need of a ribbon for some time.......while digging around for ribbon I spy my 40's - 50's pugs.......then notice the rich colors of this raw silk................when THIS happens.......I am not sure......but I think I like it.:eek::eek::eek::eek...
Never seen a cork boater but I do have an US Army Artillery Officers Helmet from around 1879 made entirely of cork with wool cloth covering.....This was common for these helmets for many army's in this era....cork is fairly thick (about a 3/8").
