This thread idea popped up when I ran across this hat shown in the Wall Street Journal monthly magazine. I literally cut and pasted the description and pricing (from the back of the mag) to make this easy.

As stated... REALLY?!

Reminds me of some of the straw hats worn by various characters in M*A*S*H. Especially this one:

For all those times in the workshop when you have to build a gun out of old plumbing fixtures and clock parts but you hate wearing your toolbelt.

I appreciate the creativity in that - I thinkit would look better had they started with a better hat, of course.

So, now you have to worry about termites AND moths???

Never seen those before. I suppose it would guarantee better shade with no chance of light getting through the brim, though Im' not sure it would be for me aesthetically.

Any hat made of plastic. Or in the colors of a flag. Or plastic AND in the colors of a flag!

You'll see a lot of that particular style at any big event involving the British royals, as well as a few Orange Order marches. I think that particular style of plastic dates back to the early/mid 70s. Same stuff that masks ("falsefaces" as we called them) for Hallowe'en/ Samhain were made from when I was a kid in Ireland, when you'd be allowed to buy a new mask for Halloween from the local shop for about fifty pence to wear to your Hallowe'en party or the fireworks/bonfire (which we had for Hallowe'en - Guy Fawkes / Bonfire night is known of in Northern Ireland and Scotland, but when I was a kid at least it was never marked there as a celebration (bear in mind that Halloween originated as a folk festival there, and the government-mandated celebration of the failure of Guy Fawkes' 1605 (The 'Observance of the 5th November 1605 Act', which was only repealed in 1865) did not extend to either Irish or Scottish jurisdictions (as it predated both Unions), so Guy Fawkes never really took root there).

It's hard to decide what I find WTF about that hat. Is it the layered cake appearance or is that the name of John B Stetson adorns it?

Here's a couple of 'hats' and the first one you might be seeing a lot more of. Both my dentist and barber, (both are ladies) are wearing a version of this Covid 19 PPE hat. The second hat is worn by one, Billy Porter. I had to Google Billy, some character.

The Millinery Warehouse is now offering 100% rabbit fur felt hat bodies in tie-dye. It’s about time!

Jimi Hendrix would have rocked this. There used to be a vintage shop in Camden Market that specialised in doing this sort of thing by bleaching old velvet blazers. Quite the look worn together. Not for me, personally, but hey, if it gets soem more kids buying felt hats and helps keep the business alive...

Jerry died in ‘95. I remember my wife calling me when she heard it in the news.

Yeah, I was remembering the year of the time I last had tickets to a show. It was in Cleveland at the old Richfield Coliseum, where the Cavs used to play. It was cancelled because of a blizzard, and I was driving up to the show from SW Ohio right in the middle of it.
