    Both ways work well.....the heated sand just finishes quicker.......I have done both as I actually have a heated hat bag......it is a big piece of equipment!!!! I generally just use regular sand weights when using the flange....generally I can iron out a crown on a block.....though sometimes.....

    BANCROFT was well known for making service caps in WW2 (and advertised their Officer caps especially). Packed away somewhere I have at least one.......(service cap that is). Nice snare.....
