Who knows what kind of shoulders I'll wind up going with? I've changed my mind a million times already. What's the story on the wool lining and does it itch? And what would you say is the temperature range on the jacket is with that lining?
I want something very similar; but I already have a JL M-200 and don't want the same thing just longer. I especially don't want the same shoulder pleats and like just leather all the way across. Since it's a bike jacket and I need room to reach the handlebars, other jackets like Aero seem to...
For what it's worth, I just got a jacket at Johnson Leather. When it came time to pick out the hide, among the choices I was shown was the leather used in the San Francisco Police Department jackets. That's what I picked because long ago I had an LAPD motorcycle jacket which was similar...
I had a Vanson Enfield from eBay that I think was sorta "not brand new" and the "Competition Cowhide" was certainly thick and heavy. That said, I'll bet for two G's (which is what I think they cost) the Langlitz is a hell of a lot more jacket. Go for it. You only live once.
You talkin' to me? (If you are, it's a little confusing because my name isn't John.)
If you were talking to someone else, so sorry.
BTW, I do look a little like Mary Hartman: two eyes, two ears, one nose, etc. I stole that from Gracie Allen (which I guess proves I'm old.)
I don't want the coat but I'm happy to steal the idea for the belt. I like that it's functional (like the cuff buttons on a Saville Row suit) and am hopeful that Alan at JL can re-create a half-belt where the back adjustment straps flow organically from a belt like that and not just emerge from...
You didn't say how you got it. That 9/10ths of the battle on a good fit. Also, for benefit of generations unborn who may someday be researching this post for LW Ryder sizing, what's you height, weight, etc.?
TO ANYONE TRYING TO QUIT:
Seriously, check out my method on page one of this string. Obviously you have to be ready and want to; but if I could quit, anyone can quit. I inhaled down to my ankles and smoked them down to the filters! And my method is mindless too, you're replacing cigarettes...
Ensemble is too strong a word. I would say utility plus some understated style. Frankly, at this second, I'm leaning back to a pointed collar because all the old Hercules jackets were like that. It's just that I'm pretty decided on almost all details of a new order and that's one area where I...
I'm seeing it differently (from computer images, not in person), ergo the Mary Hartman picture. I look at it as a regular collar, except the sharp "shirt collar" points are rounded off. I figured it would work the same in back and the only real difference in function would be if you chose to...
I hope I'm not bugging people. I've picked FL's collective brain on linings, cuffs, belts, etc., and now it's the collar (for a Long Half Belt/Hercules type). What do you guys think of this this particular collar (off a Himel Bros. Heron). I sorta like it because what do I need a shirt collar...
Thanks again, "Ish"
I don't think I want a jacket quite as long as the Mushman, so the belt would be a little out of proportion. That said, I really like the shape of those particular pocket flaps and will send that pic to JL (unless I come across something even more perfect perfect).
I think anytime you're seeing through a lens, you don't know what you're really looking at. For example, Barbara Stanwyck in "The Big Valley," but that's another subject. :D On the jacket: to me, it's Flash Gordon.
Wow! This picture is a revelation. The weird thing is the belt looks a little high to me, but the attachment is fantastic! The sound you're hearing is my brains falling out! Still, I don't see myself getting anything longer than the 26" (or coming down a little less than my sleeves). I do...
