I would suggest as a modest upgrade from polo and khakis you do this:
Go ahead and get some good khakis, but also get some slacks in maybe blues and greys.
Buy some button down collar long sleeve oxfords (shirts) in both solids and plaids. At your size I'd avoid stripes I think. Be sure they...
Perfect. I was thinking Noir before I noticed the "Syd Noir 174". I can practically see the neon sign flickering through the blinds and hear the gumshoe coming down the hall.
I think what's different is that many people have come to believe that government can and will make their lives safer and seem more than willing to let that government into every area of their lives.
Anyone feel safer?
I've watched a few documentaries on the end of streetcars here in the US and I don't believe the clock can be set back on this matter. The only way I can see anything at all like a return to streetcars would be in isolated downtown areas and even then only if all automobile and truck traffic...
I worked as a pump jockey for a while back in 1972 while in college. Seems like full service stations were already on the way out then. The station I worked at had both self-serve and full-serve pumps. Price was the same, though.
I wouldn't mind seeing the return of the full service gas station complete with pump jockeys. Funny how when gasoline was less than $.30/gal you could have someone pump it, check your oil, clean your windows and even check the air in your tires. Now that it's pushing $3/gal half the time they...
My wife is Chinese and Mahjong is what we all play when we get together with her side of the family. My mother-in-law is in her 90's and regularly wipes up the table with the rest of us.
When our grandkids visit it's likely to be Candyland at this point. Or Cootie.
:offtopic:
I like a decent cigar. but I don't even smoke them inside my own home, let alone in someone else's home or even around others. Unless the others are also smoking. Outdoors. Or somewhere catering to cigar smokers with decent ventilation.
And frankly I consider it extraordinarily...
No. My guess is that model is called the Range. On closer look it has an extra hat band placed over the original (both are there in the picture) and that makes it slightly more difficult to identify...
Having actually worn such things (many years ago) while working for the Norfolk Southern Railway as a car mechanic I can say that they never were especially high quality and definitely not lined. They were workwear pure and simple and worn in extremely dirty and rough environments. They were...
The essential question to me (and it's not rhetorical) is that if the cycle of parents teaching their children to be responsible adults is no longer happening on a significant scale then what's it going to take to reverse that trend or correct for or supply the missing training?
I don't think safety can actually be bought at the price of freedom. The fear of terrorism has certainly affected more people than actual terrorist acts. Clearly many more planes have gone down every year from other causes than from terrorist acts. Safety is an illusion.
I "felt" much safer...
Ink is Lamy. (Edit - from a cartridge. Haven't installed the refillable cartridge and tried the bottled ink yet.) I'm certainly open to alternative suggestions.
The paper could certainly be the problem as it's just your standard notepad from Staples. It's not like I've tried the pen on any...
I think I'd like a Flex Nib based on what I'm seeing with the fine point Lamy Safari I just bought. It has a terrible time maintaining ink flow on vertical down strokes. Don't know if it's the pen or me.
Yes, we wouldn't want to profile and maybe have a better chance of actually catching a terrorist, would we?
On the other subject, my grandfather believed every boy should have a pocket knife, a dog and a harmonica. My mother wouldn't have a dog around, but I had the pocket knife and harmonica...
