Not in person....I've been waiting for more details to come out about the availability at "select stores." This site seems to have them: https://unionmadegoods.com/product/levis-vintage-clothing-limited-edition-stetson-x-lvc-dakota-hat-in-silversand/
Matt Deckard was also involved in the LVC...
So I've heard his aesthetic described as "bohemian," which is a good as word as any I guess. In opposition to a hatter replicating vintage pieces, he's a forward thinking, fashion thinking hat designer. And that's fine, there's room enough in the world for there to be a ridiculous celebrity hat...
Alright, I caved. Impulsivity got the best of me. Probably influenced by the fact that I was this close to pulling the trigger on a pricey Worth and Worth lid. This one was cheaper; in a color I don't have; and supposedly the most authentic Boss of the Plains replica out there. Knudsen hats...
I had a delivery a few blocks away from Golden Gate Western Wear this afternoon. A Boss of the Plains hat almost followed me home. I actually still might go back and get it today or next week. It's this guy, in Stetson 6x "ranch tan" felt, which is a shade darker and a shade yellower than...
Oh, everything on the W&W site is pricey. I'm pretty sure I had a Panamabob hat of the same weave quality of the Marfa that I probably paid $60 for. The Virgil is only slightly less ridiculous. Mr. Palacios has transformed W&W from hat shop that makes custom hats, to his own personal brand...
I've long thought that this was a super-cool hat. It's dyed with two colors to create a unique melange in each piece. It would qualify for 20% off, which nudges it towards being a more reasonable purchase. It's not cheap by any means, but it's a wild fur felt and a lot of labor goes into the...
Happy thanksgiving to my fellow US loungers. Some great choices today. Love the pair of brown Homburgs.
Took the pooch to the dog park before I head out for dinner. Still wearing the Stetson Fortune and Glory...
I'm 98% sure she's wearing the Stetson Dune. You can just barely make out the 2 ply band, pin, and feather.
Billy looks to be wearing a custom lid. There's no band, and the thickness of the felt seems heavier than dress weight. Possibly a Fouquet lid, maybe Worth and Worth....
Funnily enough, the WWE (yup, the wrestling company) is claiming a trademark on that hand gesture. I don't know how they actually registered it, because it's absurd to claim it originated with them. But they did, in fact, send out cease and desist letters to some non-WWE wrestlers using it.
I'd have no issue with it if the matches were unique in some way, or if Fouquet actually originated the practice. Neither is true.
I realize law is not crafted according to what some rube like me on the internet thinks, but that's what internet forums are for!
The other analogy I thought of...
Apparently it falls under "trade dess," which creates a brand identity .
I was very ineptly trying to search the trademarks, but could only find ones related to Fouquet's company name and logo.
Wow.
I am reminded of an episode of Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares where he visits a place called Cafe Hon (short for "Honey". The owner trademarked "Hon," which is apparently especially prevalent there in Balitimore. The local community was not happy and even started a boycott.
I...
I'm not so sure how much connection the current Worth & Worth staff would have to those hats. IIRC, Mr. Palacios took ownership of the business within the past five years or so. At least, that's how long they've been branded as "Worth & Worth by Orlando Palacios."
