Great article, Stanley. Interesting use of the term "bisexual" when most would today say "coed". I hate to admit it, but Manhattans-and-fruit-cups with tuxedos sounds more my speed than beer-and-polka in your second-best suit.

Perhaps this is a bit pre-Golden Era, but I'm not sure who else to ask. It seems to me I once read of an event called a "Beefsteak" that involved black tie, big tables, lots of people, and all-you-can-eat steak (perhaps served on bread instead of plates?).
I'm having trouble finding...
A two-fer today. *This shot qualifies me to post in both the bow tie thread and the cap thread:
I'm not actually wearing the cap today, though. *It's the new Henry the Hatter 8/4 linen cap I bought for this summer.

My grandparents had a Charger about that time - at his behest. He actually had spec'd them out a 440/4-speed model, and then when they got to the dealer to pick it up, my grandmother saw a 318/automatic model on the lot painted a gold color. She said "Oh, I hope it's that beautiful gold one!"...
Funny, Dad traded in his '65 GTO on a Mustang (perhaps the '71 above) upon his return from Southeast Asia, and he too wished for the midsized muscle car back afterward.

Jamespowers, I thought you might appreciate this period photo of one of my dad's Mach Is. I thought this was his '71, but it appears to be wearing a '69 Michigan plate. He owned two or three of the bigger style Mustang, so I guess I'm just not sure.
I have to say, the ascot in the photo...
Of course, what’s less original? A 283 wearing a four-barrel, headers, and running a Duntov cam? Or a 383 wearing the 283's intake manifold, carburetor, ram’s horns, and running a mild camshaft idling much like the original 283? The latter is probably more in keeping with the original...
For some reason I assumed this was a 235ci six. The 283s were good motors, to be sure.
I’ve gotten spoiled by having a 4bbl 327 and 4-speed in a relatively lightweight Camaro body, so in that ‘61 four-door I’d be thinking of transferring all the 283's visual elements to an externally...
That reminds me of before I had my Camaro painted: "It's a classic car, not a Sherman tank!" - Dad.
But then we installed new weatherstripping and if you don't slam the door it won't latch in the fully closed position.
Oh, and with regard to the Buick/Cadillac conversation, I'm...
