    Had old Stetson with same fading that had nothing to do with a wider hatband. Fading seemed related to sweatband. Outside of re-dying felt, covering up with a WAR is the option....

    Put it in a plastic trash bag with crumpled newspapers for 2-3 days, sealed up tight. If that doesn't work, get some talcum powder, coat the hat very well, rub in gently with finger tips, brush off....HTH

    Alpaca is warm. I only wear my 50s HB on colder days & it is prickly. I'm having it replaced with a lightweight tartan wool so I can wear it a bit warmer & layer when colder.

    Send it to a hatter to reblock just a size up. I have 2 vintage Stetson that are 7 1/2 LO & I am a good 7 5/8 LO. Anything more & you'll loose brim width or crown height....

Compared to the Royal, Royal Deluxe, 3X, & Twenty-five OR I have or have had with varying brim widths, the Strats are flanged with more cupping...
