Sunbody's shape easily. They are heavy for straw hats. Without vents, they don't breathe well.
I've used large brimmed ones for outdoor work = good shade.
Sounds like they are replacing their Open Door model = OR style, choice of color & brim width.
Frank got one a while back when they were still using Biltmore in Canada.
They are probably going to the relocated factory. Like to see what they come out with...
As I recall from the factory tour, there was final inspection. My replacement didn't pass for an issue far more minute than using the wrong felt body.....

Thanks for the update Jeff. Seen any of the Silverbelly Premiere Strats?
My other question is why did HatCo Quality Control let those hats out of the factory? I understand some blems getting by but to have a "premiere" line come out that used the wrong hat bodies says somebody was asleep at...
I have some of the last Canadian made Biltmore open crown/Open Road clones (2, 1 in silverbelly & 1 in tawny) & one of the last Beaver Brand open crown/OR clones. I compared them to my Akubra Campdrafts, both Heritage & Imperial, at the time. My mink Premiere Stratoliner is on par with these...
Thanks Mike.
This hat has been thru many creases since I bought it new in 1979.
Earlier ones were done with steam but last one was distilled water spray then set with steam.
I don't go for much curl on my western brims so I only have a couple that are 4". Most are 3.5 - 3.75". The fedoras get the duty during the week when I'm going into town for work & westerns mainly weekends...
MANY thanks guys! I rolled 3 passions into one = leather jackets, hats, motorcycles.

Culmination of a FedoraFest idea??? http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?55919-Fedorafest-III-Stratoliner-from-Stetson&p=1224646&viewfull=1#post1224646
Al, old adage is "it coudn't hurt"...I use Lexol wipes but good quality leather conditioner like Pecard is fine.
When "training" my lids, I wipe them with conditioner, let it soak in some, put the stretcher in & wear another hat, repeat....
Sounds like the felt bodies are coming out too loose & the continued "felting" is more than should be post-finishing.
My new Akubras do this to an acceptable extent.
My guess is HatCo in attempting to get that lighterweight felt body of classic Strat's reputation, they may have not gotten some...
Groms are very popular & lots of planned after-market doodads...
I rode a scooter to class when in college with much the characteristics of your commute.
A 50cc can be fun & useful....you just get bit by the bug & want more POWER!!!
Looks like he's dropped a few coins on some footware around here too Dave....
Sam, I'd wear it & see how the sleeves end up as they do crease considerably. I'm with the motorcycle crowd so I like my longer than most, even for casual wear.
More modern OR's had only a tag attached to the sweat that specified "Open Road" & since they were paper, many disappeared.
Some vintage OR's may have had sweatbands replaced with non-tagged versions but if you look at older catalogs, you'll see models with same bound edge & ribbon treatment as...
The HatCo modern Stetson Stratoliner & the current Open Road are both low crown models, about 5 1/4 if you take them to open crown state.
The new Premiere Stratoliner is more like the vintage Strats in crown height. Seen hints there maybe an open crown Open Road is coming out...
