    Burial Jacket for a Hero...

Condolences & sympathies to you & your family. Extreme gratitude for his service & sacrifice. We all are better for what he chose to do.

Ask a question, get an answer

If you bought the Royal Stetson Stratoliner to wear, then resizing & replacing the sweatband did not devalue the hat to you one bit. It sounds to have made it more valuable since you can wear it now as opposed to being a unwearable size. There is no collect-ability left since you resized &...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I like the write up = "crown measures 5 inches high and the brim is 3 inches wide" but just below in measurements = 3 1/2" brim / 4 1/2" crown... Not sure I could trust the guy to measure anything close to accurately...[huh]

Getting Cigarrete smell out of leather jacket

I have a A2 that is my "pub" jacket. It had a smoky smell when I got it used, so I wear it to places that are designated "smoking bars". I've used Febreze & fresh air to keep it tolerable = turn it inside out, spray the lining, cuffs, waist, etc. (all fabric parts), let it sit on the porch...

    Cowboy Boots

True but didn't consider photo quality that much when just showing spurs on boots, both very utilitarian. Details of either not really the subject, just the fact they are always together....

    Cowboy Boots

The horsemen that I deal with, mostly reining, reined cowhorse & cutting trainers, always wear spurs. Most never take them off their working boots. Here is my riding rig for my feet...

Thurston Bros. - Official Affiliate Thread

Yep, & I forgot to mention that Carrie removed the storm cuffs inside the sleeves as well. Her work on matching the stitch holes on the front for the zipper replacement is masterful. I buy handcrafted holsters, spur straps, belts, saddles, etc. & look for the attention to detail. She nailed...

    The Conversion Corral

Whoa! That trough would catch some serious water. Think I'd have to slope it some to keep the pooling to a minimum....

Thurston Bros. - Official Affiliate Thread

Carrie did a GREAT job replacing the zipper & swapping out the alpaca lining for a tartan lining. I went with Ancient McKenzie since I have ancestors that trace back to that clan & a few friends with that last name. The jacket fits better & feels lighter. LOOKS great. Excellent job cleaning up...

    "The Ultimate Indy fedora"

Akubra cattleman has too low of a crown to start width, way too much brim trimming. The Fed4 is the model but if something with chin strap is your goal, then go for the Bushman.

American Boots for the English Gent?

Justin owns Tony Lama & Nocona Boots which were both Texas-based. They are like Stetson, Resistol, etc. for hat brands = just the brand. While HatCo makes the hats in Garland, TX, there are some models of the boots that are USA made, possibly just assembled. Some are from China, some...

    Western, anyone?

Some shots the hat looked benign at best = http://blogs.amctv.com/hell-on-wheels/photo-galleries/hell-on-wheels-season-3-episode-photos/#/26 Others, it looked like a wool crusher with a wire in the underwelt =...
