If I can horn in, I have a JL M200 in the 3.5oz finished cowhide that he uses for the SFPD. I'm no Tarzan, but I never found it hard to wear. Weight was a consideration on this project, given the wool lining, so it was agreed that shaven CXL would fill the bill. I was 9/16 of an inch from...
That's one thing I'm really not worried about. I used to think the "test jacket" was some canvas contraption. Instead it's a brand new jacket (which I'm sure many non-customizers just buy if it fits). Allen looks at pix of you wearing it and you're off to the races. Secondly Allen has said...
I was a long time coming for this reason and that (and I think I started twenty threads on one aspect or another of this jacket). Anyway the order is in and I can't conceive of changing anything now. I'll try to post pix when I receive it; but for those who, like me, enjoy following along...
I have to vacate the premises soon for fumigation and haven't had a chance to revisit posting pix (though I definitely shall in due time). If you saw that jacket, you probably saw another LW 42 A1 a few weeks ago. I was sorta interested, but wanted to sell another jacket first. I was mad at...
Thanks HD. Just what I wanted to hear ;-) Seriously though, if it doesn't go away I certainly won't be wearing it to a classical concert. Outside though, I totally didn't notice it. I figured that somebody here would nail a solution right off. I'll probably will take it into a leather...
For what it's worth, last night in the quietude in front of my bathroom mirror, the sound seemed overbearing. Today, when I wore it outside doing errands etc, a little squeaking was there but not nearly as intrusive.
(I wish I could post a quick pic. I used to know how to post via photobucket; but the last time I tried, photobucket was different and I couldn't figure it out. I'll try manana; but I'd like advice immediately, if not sooner, and a pic doesn't seem absolutely necessary, I hope.)
Long story...
I'll put my two cents in too. I don't think it's looks funny tight. Let's put it this way, if Mick Jagger was wearing it, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't go a size up. For me the calculus depends on what you like plus it's got to be comfortable. A jacket that binds when you're driving, etc., is...
I don't know if this is on or off topic, but:
I used to work in box offices, so I've seen up close more than my share of well-known (and presumably well-off) people. After I started reading this board and knowing about different makers, when I saw someone famous in a leather jacket that was...
Maybe this is old news, but I read those articles that FredS was good enough to post the links to. One said that chromexel was used in machinery as a gasket or something. I don't where or when they started using it in apparel though.
I'm not trying to be a smart ass and I'm not saying I know more than you. I just seems to me that, if you're really concerned about going down one way or another, you should be wearing armor or a jacket with armor. My go-to riding jacket is a Vanson Teton with great venting, room for...
It weird you should say that. Last night I was listening to a podcast taking place in SF and the panelists, who are from the east coast, were all saying how cold they thought it was. P.S. It's too bad you can't just get a bike. If you've got a place for it, you won't be sorry.
I'm one phone call and two emails away from a final order from JL myself (sort of an idiosyncratic Lost Worlds Rigger). After sitting on the fence I've decided to go with the exact same hide from JL (with a brown mouton collar and dark rust knits. Stop me if I'm making a mistake: I know Allen...
I always knew that I was going with a brown mouton collar and the other half of FFTT"s wool lining. As far as the knits and hide go, it seems like I've gone through every permutation there is. My current (and final?) favorite is the shaved down black over brown chromexel. I really want to use...
Maybe if the mob is after you and you have to change your appearance in a hurry. Otherwise, I've pondered that question myself while perusing the Aero website. Somebody (other than me) should write them and ask.
I don't plan on wearing it in the rain. L.A. isn't like Hawaii or Florida, where it can start raining seemingly out of the blue and stop just as fast. It never rains without it being predicted.
