Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

Every time I wear a flower in my hair, it gets comments. It's not the set nor the rolled bangs nor the finger waves that people see, none of the stuff that took effort. It's always the flower or the scarf, the accessory I took a few seconds to add on.

Summer clothes from the Golden Era

I've been wondering about this myself. But I'm the type to wear something out of it's "home spot." For instance, I'd make those nightgown patterns in something just heavy enough to wear in public. And I'm not above grocery shopping in '20s beach pajamas. I just don't care about convention...

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Prayer is the way I deal with it/move up. That and talking to friends about how I feel or sometimes getting feedback on how I could've done better on my end.

    What are you listening to?

I'm at the dentist so much that I'm the most relaxed patient they have. They ask if I have any questions and I always say, "You all know me; I know the drill." It's old hat to me. I've even fallen asleep in the chair, just for a few seconds, but still....

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Oh, I definitely take offense. The compassion comes later--sometimes much later. At first I am appalled at the behavior, especially the trivial things people get angry about in this part of the country. Sometimes I literally think, "Seriously? You're angry about that?" When I was on the...

The Thread to Display Your 1930s Suits

That is fantastic. I wish more men would wear suits like that. And I have a weakness for caps like that.

That is awful. PTSD, I suppose. It's hard for me to see how a person like that might be hurting more than seeing how s/he is hurting me. I have to work to get to a place of compassion rather than offense.

    What's for Dinner?

I had a bean burrito with sour cream added. I am in a rut, I think. I am at the taco place every other day lately.

Lizzie, I want to work with you for a day. It sounds like fun. So, I have a couple, since I work with the public: a) People who don't believe the words coming out of my mouth. Yes, the machine is broken. Otherwise I wouldn't have said so. No, walking over and looking at it isn't going to...

What was the last TV show you watched?

I love that episode. It's on tonight, but I don't get that channel. I'm currently in the middle of an ongoing Charmed marathon. I notice in seasons 3 and 4 that Phoebe does some vintage hairstyles. huh

WOW. I am utterly awed by your talent. It's so beautiful and so is that lake!

What coffee or tea did you drink today?

I'm not brand-loyal at all, though I really like Gevalia house blend. It's dark enough to be used in my espresso maker. I generally like any brand of Colombian brewed as a shot. So I'm country-loyal? On my lunch I did pick up a bottle of Starbucks unsweetened iced coffee and added heavy...
