Nice! Congrats!!!
I'd get one of these myself for sure! top of the heap!!
She's the bees knees I tells ya!
Grab yourself a bottle Champagne, definitely.
You got your typical musty smell, that's fine...but then there's a distinct 'basement flood' aroma, that should be avoided if entirely possible. There's also a chemical smell like delousing agent, like a thrift store smell, generally that will wash out unless it's a dry clean only affair such as...
Anyone have any thoughts about wearing A-2's until the front at the bottom would fold under around the waist line so that little tab that stuck out where the zipper meets is tucked under the pockets and it's broken in like that with some seat time and flattened down, shortening it up some too? I...
Hope you find the right one!
sorry to hear it's not a keeper.. it's got a slightly boxier fit than some Jackets and I agree if it's not right it's not right...In this case the back 'puff' hangs in a good way unlike a modern version, but it's hard to find the right balance.
This Jacket is...
Its about right.
Looks great on you man, seriously.
Is it star sportswear?
I have an original G-1 by star sportswear. It's my favourite.
Also, you're only wearing a T-shirt underneath. Might try it with some different Layers of clothes to see how it changes the fit or look, etc. Depends...
wow, looks like It's never been washed even!! That one I'd put in a box and keep it stashed and find a beat up 'project' jacket to wear and fix and sew up or wear on a rainy day.
Someone else maybe needed that part and took it from this Jacket for their own one? who knows.
Try a duffel bag...
A guy with a brand new Jacket might take a few months to break it in.
The old jackets in my collection shrunk up a bit or I've just been racking up to much seat time on the couch for the winter...you know?
Give it some wear, leave the wool pile matt down for a time and see where she's at...
Is that a Bullet Keychain for a Zip pull 'embellishment' ...is that what I'm seeing? If so, it may actually be one of the coolest things I've ever seen on a biker Jacket, This guy knows where it's at. My DUDE!
Thanks for posting, this photo made my day!
Delicately!!!! I've finished enough pulls off that way trying to bend them back into shape, they can already have a crack which is why the zipper fails.
I'm just going to get another Duffel bag next time I'm at the surplus for $40, and keep the old bag because it's got good memories, my friend gave it to me when we were kids...we used to trade back and fourth. I loved trading stuff with friends growing up!!
Same happened to me with a relatively new-ish Jacket. I couldn't get the pull to work right... I took the Jacket back to the shop and they did a fine replacement, no 'alteration' IE mangled Stitch holes..added some Elbow pads too...can't remember it was like $40 bucks...I wore that Zipper out...
good work on the liner!!
I wore a Jacket like that to band practice, years ago. Went out for a smoke break and the drummer looked at it and exclaimed 'Man, that guy must have had a few wild nights wearing that!'
I've found just applying conditioner such as mink oil and wiping thoroughly with a towel will remove some surface dirt nicely, as it's been said here, just go easy on it as you are giving it a going over.
That looks like damage from the leather coming into contact with hot metal or something like that maybe? I've seen it common on these Jackets, what colour stains? who knows? could have been from a marine signal flare or smoke or something?
I have a good collection of these, some of them still...
I did that earlier this winter going through some old clothes. It was a Lightning zipper from an old Army duffel bag, It had a key ring for a pull, and I've reefed on that thing for 30 years and it finally gave...It was sad for a moment, but I've moved on...it's cheaper to buy a whole new duffel...
I don't mind a little more room in a B-3, it should have a 'utility' feel to it and a size up is fine. Wear them until they're nice and grubby too.
For base layers, the old standby plain cotton White T-shirt (The secret weapon IMHO!!) Navy blue watch cap to balance with the Jeans, find a pair...
