My experience is that they'll actually leave the store only to stop in the door way just outside the door.

    What Are You Reading

I read that book a while agao and remember thoroughly enjoying it. If you are so inclined, Harmetz also did a similar type books about the making of the Wizard of Oz and Gone with the wind.

I agree, it sounds like something GWB would say, probably in relating a story though. However I frankly find the story hard to swallow. Seriously, a reporter saying that to a foreign head of state? Unless there's a video of the encounter documenting it, I'd say it's pure fantasy, or perhaps...

    30s era jazz done right!

I've recently been enjoying with renewed interest (via Youtube which abounds with videos and sound files) the efforts of several Czech and Slovak 30s style dance bands: the Bratislava Hot Serenaders, the Original Prague Syncopated Orchestra, and perhaps my most favorite, Ondrej Havelka and His...

Been there done that - My understanding is that there's an assumption that your stuff has become more valuable/costly to replace so the cost of coverage must go up accordingly. Went through this years ago with regard to car insurance - my car gets older every year hence it is increasingly worth...

    What's For Breakfast...

Nothing wrong with that. A hamburger and a vanilla shake was my breakfast of choice when I was a kid. At a local mom and pop place an Italian sub features very prominently on their breakfast menu.

    What's For Breakfast...

I never understood the vinegar with fries bit, it just doesn't appeal to me so much. An old college roomate's father used to put a couple of cheese curds in his coffee as treat at the bottom of the cup when finished the coffee.

    What's For Breakfast...

They all are good on fries, just depends on what mood I'm in and the context and the type of fry, though I tend to put ketchup last in the list. I much prefer mayo, hot sauce, ranch, or brown gravy on my fries. And cheese sauce (like nacho cheese sauce) of course. Sometimes even mustard (mostly...

    What's For Breakfast...

Stumbled across a reference to a mayonnaise and banana sandwich last night so I tried it for breakfast. It wasn't entirely objectionable, certainly not as much as it would seem. I'm not likely to try it again as I much prefer vegetables with mayo in sandwiches.

Good god, the vibrato isn't bad enough?!! Was it Orson Welles that told Ted Turner to "keep your crayons away from my films"? A similar thing is seen in the "classical" music world, whereby vocal pieces are translated from their original language into English. While admittedly some...

Actually, I find YouTube clips of Russian and Eastern European dash-cams quite entertaining and somewhat addictive. Great lunch hour diversion.

    Who else grinds coffee?

Great for you! I love my 6-cup (= about 1, 8-10oz mug full) very very much. I tend to use mine more when I have store bought pre-ground coffee. It tends to get more out of less grounds. Great to start the day off with. Othertimes it's french press all the way.

Yum Yum! You must have some sort of weird pica. At least with the tag attached, there's a remote chance you might get some fiber out of it.

So you're saying you find scotch tape flavor in your tea preferable to paper tag flavor. Do you know what goes into making scotch tape?

Nope, not at all. Generic, mid-westerners. A bit+ higher on the economic food chain than us (in this instance) but pedestrian nonetheless.
