So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

A point of annoyance: being asked to remove my shoes when I go to somebody's house. Really? You invite a person into your home then you ask them to take off an article of clothing. That's how you treat a guest?

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

Yes!! That has happened to me many times. My wife is always accusing me of hanging up on her. Silly me for assuming the conversation is over and hanging up when my "ok, bye," is met with silence.

    Who else grinds coffee?

Bravo on you, welcome to the dark side! My only complaint is that they may those things so damned small! Oh well, having to make a fresh pot every time I want a mug of coffee isn't a bad thing I suppose. Grind my own beans mostly - especially when I use my french press (otherwise a Moka pot...

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

That is not uncommon. My wife works in the Clinical Trials Unit of the Seidman Cancer Center and has often spoken of this "post partem" depression as it were. Seems like the process becomes a comfortable way of life (in a manner of speaking) then you're pushed out in to the world on your own...

    Experimenting on foods.

As kids we used to stuff our mouth full of popcorn then take a sip of Kool aid (grape of course) to experience the dramatic shrivel of the popcorn. We thought it was fun at the time, though I can't for the life of me understand why.

    Experimenting on foods.

Muesli to me has always seemed like uncooked oatmeal, very dusty and raw tasting. Wouldn't even think of having it with water though, always a bit of milk and some sugar (or not with sugar depending if there's dried fruit in it, otherwise add lots of raisins).

    Restaurant Hat Issues

I'd sooner think the hostess viewed it more as a walking tip.

Trumpeting: How to learn to play jazz?

Learn to play the instrument first so you can actually use it to express yourself, as your voice. All the sheet music, listening and learning about improvisation aren't worth a hill of beans if you can't actually play the instrument. There are no short cuts to paying your dues - Clarke studies...

    Restaurant Hat Issues

Much to my wife's ire, I've been known to take over a chair from a neighboring table for my hat and coat. Otherwise, knowing the situation I'm walking into, I just leave my hat in the car.

At some point, possibly the late 70s, our 411 changed to 1411

    What Are You Reading

As always I’ve got a few going all at once: Lincoln dreamt he died : the midnight visions of remarkable Americans from Colonial times to Freud / Andrew Burstein Operation Long Jump : Stalin, Roosevelt, Churchill, and the greatest assassination plot in history / Bill Yenne The sheltering...

Well that too. I was referring to a cat presenting their back side and twitching their tail. I'm reminded of Cat Lassie

Actually, as I understand it, that's a sign of affection in the cat world.

re: the NY thing and New England. Frankly, I blame NY for Connecticut going to pot. All those city dwellers venturing out into the CT country on the weekends. Then again I'm kinda angry in general at what became of the NE I grew up in. My memories are of the days when there were more rural...

Nope, but I'll have to remember that one. I think the only NE state I ever developed a bad opinion of was Vermont. It seems they don't want you, just your money. Growing up it seems like we never heard anything the other states, especially Rhode Island, it was like it didn't exist. We had...

Odd, I grew up in Connecticut and don't remember anything about any states' rivalries or animosity, and still don't really.

FYI - The Playboy Mansion is available for $200 million. Hef gets to stay though.

Really, how hard it it to flip the fork over and use it correctly? Then again I also think it's very uncouth to go at it two handed, kinda barbaric in my opinion.

29 degrees and breezy this morning and we saw kids in shirt sleeves and shorts walking to school. Hear Hear! It makes my wife so mad when we're seated at a booth or even at a table and I take it upon myself to take over a couple of chairs at a nearby table to put our coats and hats on. Of...
