So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

re two handed eating with both knife and fork- I've never really understood this business of piling, or more often mashing, food on to the back of the fork. I've pitched enough manure and hay in my lifetime to know that's not the most efficient way of using a fork!

Normal House on the Outside, 17th Century on the Inside!

Interesting. I'd think more like late 19th/early 20th cent renaissance revival though - one sees the same things at big early 20c estates like Biltmore and Stan Hewet. Makes me wonder what the deal was with the owners. Maybe they were SCA types. Much as the 17th century is my area as a...

We still have presents from last year laying around that weren't put away!

    Installing Wind Cords

It really isn't a difficult project to do yourself. Think about it, by buying a wind trolley and installing it yourself you're already doing much of the work yourself.

I've always wanted to try one of those!

Dam, that looks good (though I'd prefer it to be crab)!

Show us your Thrift and/or yard sale finds

Thank you for posting a pic of your "new" accordion. It made my day, it really did, bringing up memories of my youth and relatives. I played in a "professional" polka band when I was in my teens back in Connecticut, and have fond memories of my exposure to the various associated ethnic quarters...

    Who Does Without TV?

My dad would watch the Red Sox on tv with no sound and listen to it on the radio at the same time.

I ABSOLUTELY HATE that phrase! Your bad what?

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

To me curtains are simple every day, translucent, usually white cotton, or similar type window treatments whereas drapes are made from heavier and probably longer material used primarily to block out light and drafts. It's been interesting to read everybody's take on this. In the end I suppose...

    Experimenting on foods.

We make soup at home all the time, but sadly, it isn't very often that we put hours and hours of work into it like grandma used to - roasting and boiling off bones for stock (though I quite often make my own chicken stock to freeze). Our soups are usually relatively fast and easy, an I've found...

    The Agents of F.L.A.S.K.

While the "money pit" is a fun story on the face of it, I have serious doubts that anybody, especially those who supposedly constructed it, had either the wherewithal or the means to actually construct such a thing. Makes for a great story though, but to me it just smacks of a Hardy Boys mystery.

    The Agents of F.L.A.S.K.

Such is "reality" TV. Rarely does it ever feature people who actually know what they're doing or are even intelligent about what they are doing. Doesn't make for good TV. Look at the historical experiments that were done on PBS years back - Colonial House, Edwardian House, '40s house, frontier...

I wouldn't mind giving feedback or doing surveys if I actually received something back in appreciation once in a while. An NOT a coupon for a freebie that'll expire in 48 hours.

    Experimenting on foods.

No not buck-shot, I was guessing as to the origins, it was always just "shots" - "I'll have a vanilla ice cream cone with shots on it."

    Brim-binding tutorial, with pictures, even

So this was basically done on a flat brim. How about on a flanged brim such that the binding helps keep the snap to the flanging?

Sprinkles/jimmies - we always called them shots. No idea where that came from though - buck-shot?
