Thank you!! I couldn't bear it when the ABC people kept repeating, over and over, how Wallenda was the first person in the world to ever attempt this - It simply isn't true! Blondin even did it once with a man on his back! There is a great sculpture suspended over Lundy's Lane commemorating him.
That whole scenario was trying - It escalated way further than it should have! It really underscored the parent-child aspect of their marriage (which, IMHO, is much stronger than their husband-wife aspect).
You make quite a valid point. But, it can be argued that none of us really do - or indeed, can - live a totally vintage lifetyle, even if we do hold similar values, because we're living in today. The "30s lady" on the 2008 documentary Time Warp Wives is a great example: modern job, use of...
You're so lucky, RodeoRose, its beautiful! :) I would love a hostess gown...
This was a gift, but I'm so pleased with it I had to share:
From Vivien of Hollway - My favourite! I've got one in black too!
(Psst, Miss Golightly, your inbox is full.)
That's the funny thing - I love the new Don. I hated seeing him cheat on Betty again and again, and I was happy that he committed to Megan completely. Weird!
I didn't mind her in small doses before, like others have said. It might be a combination of seeing too much of her and the fact...
Same here. I only buy vintage dresses if they are in great condition and I am completely in love with them (the latter goes for all garments, actually). As a result, I'll buy repro if it looks great and I like the dress. Doesn't matter if its vintage if I'm not head over heels!
I'm pretty certain she didn't remember him, only because she went to the trouble of finding him and seducing him just beforehand, but prior to that, after they had slept together the first time, she didn't want to know him. The imminent shock treatment must have changed her mind.
Maybe...
She reminds me of the Stacey doll:
I always liked Ginger better, but that's probably because I was a little bit of a magpie as a child.
Makes sense. Once all the materials were used up, she would obviously have Emilio Pucci flown in. ;)
I believe you lol I couldn't remember exactly what he said so I figured I'd shoot for the gist. I think your right about the meaning, and Ginsberg also drives me batty. He's delicious looking, though.
Am I a terrible person for not feeling sorry for Pete? lol I just cannot muster any...
I think he might be, although the last scene was left up in the air. He mentioned to Peggy, very ruefully, "when you help someone succeed, they move on without you" before he watched Megan's screen test again and got her the commercial. Maybe that's what he was afraid of, but didn't want to...
According to TCM film guide's Leading Ladies, offscreen she used just a bit of mascara, eyebrow pencil, powder and lipstick to look her best.
As for her film make-up, forthworthgal's quote sounds pretty spot on. It appears as though she uses a thin line of black eyeliner along the top lash...
