I got this today and it doesn't have one tag on it. It's wool and medium thick. Why wouldn't there be any maker's tags, etc.? It that normal? I didn't pay alot for this so please tell me what you think. If it's a cheap coat from the 1950s then so be it? Thanks!
How far should pocket squares stick out?
I've seen them barely protruding and some that flow out of the pocket several inches. What's the norm? Or is there one? Thanks!
John
I think that I knew that but wanted to find out if folks had multiple hats of these different colors, or if I'm the only one that seems to like them? Right now I have as many of the off-colored fedoras as I do the "normal" ones.
What I like about this outfit is that it's with a sportcoat from the mid-1930s. My limited experience watching movies from that era was the impression that everybody wore some type of suit - you rarely see anyone in a sport coat. The books provided my FL members in the permanent stickies above...
I find myself gravitating lately to hats of colors other than "the norm." Any others out there with such a weird addiction? Here are my three thus far:
Teal - S. L. Bird & Sons
Dusty dark blue - Optimo
Purple-Blue - Wormser
My understanding is that the Zootshooters are rethinking their rules and there will be some adjustment later this year or earlier next year with regards to calibers that are allowed.
With regard to the club itself and whether this game will be popular with shooters in general, I plan on...
I appreciate you taking the time to put this together - it was very informative. I only smoke a pipe once or twice a week, but I do think about the risk from time to time. Your post puts it all in perspective, and, as usual with things like this, it really is all about moderation and taking a...
I'm wearing 40s garb and the wife is wearing 20s garb but we had fun anyway - outdoor Halloween party in Arlington VA. Apparently, we were supposed to look tough in this photo but I didn't get the memo.
I've started smoking a pipe again after several years off. I don't know why I stopped but I started again for the relaxing nature of the act of smoking a pipe. I've found a couple of tobaccos that I like, both from Pipeworks &Wilke - Vermont Maple and the Rumcake. Sweet smokes but not...
4 to 1 still too much vermouth? My dad's "manhattans" would be to bring out the rye, vermouth and bitters. Then he's put the rye in a glass, show the glass of rye the bottle of vermouth and throw the bitters in the trash. Now that was a dry manhattan!
When I say "sweet" Manhattan I mean that I like the 2 to 1 rye to vermouth ratio as opposed to a 3 to 1 or 4 to 1 ratio. I've seen rye recipes on the internet that use every one of these. I don't know which is the original?

Well we didn't get to the Rittenhouse Manhattans last night as planned but were able to drink some tonight. Mr Powers was correct that rye tastes different - at this very early stage, my unsophisticated palate would call it more "flavorful" than the Seagrams or Johnnie Walker that I had been...
I finally found a bottle of Rittenhouse. We'll have Manhattans this evening. I'm curious about the different in taste between this, Canadian Whiskey and American Whiskey. Thanks for the recommendations!

reetpleat,
I appreciate the critique - exactly what I needed and I think, pretty much, on the money. I view this as a work in progress and a learning process. Who knew how hard it could be to be "a sharp dressed man?"
