When did Stetson start and stop having a woven liner rather than a printed one on western hats? Like this: Thanks!

85 year old Battle of the Bulge sniper hasn't lost his touch

That's a great story! I have an original Springfield sniper rifle from WWII and with that tiny scope it's really difficult to hit anything out past 200 yards. This guy apparently was a gifted marksman and thank God he was.

The Perfect Safari Hat - Part II

My Akubra that I set up with a pungaree about 6 years ago. A great field hat during the winter months.

Most attractive 30's - 40's movie star (dolls for the guys, guys for the dolls)

Myrna Loy - and if I could find a photo of her from "Libeled Lady" where she is sitting on a couch talking to Spencer Tracy then I'd die a happy man - beautiful and smart. As for the guy, I'd have to say William Powell - not classically good looking but any guy who could get Carol Lombard and...

What are the lightest vintage felt hats out there?

Looking off in the distance, I can see summer looming and I'd like to buy a lighter felt vintage hat. I already have some straws but would like to wear vintage felt once in a while even with the higher temperatures. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! John

What cigar (or pipe) did you smoke today?

I love a variety of sizes and shapes of these. You've reminded me that life is too short not to smoke a 64 torpedo this evening. I appreciate it.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I managed to hang with the big boys on this one for a while but lost out in the end. Beautiful hat - I should sold a kidney or something - this one will haunt me. John

    The most frightening motion pictures?

The original "Alien" movie scared the crackers out of me way back when (1979?). Then I took a date to see it; she hadn't had the pleasure and told me the entire drive over that so-called scary movies never scare her. She was almost sitting in my lap after a short while into it. It scared her...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

"The King's Speech" - I know we're a little late on this one but I'm glad one of these movies finally lived up to all the hype. The wife and I enjoyed it very much, talked about it afterwards, and again this morning. John

    What are you listening to?

Bobby Darin Radio on Pandora - I didn't realize how talented that guy was. I was humming "Beyond the Sea" all day yesterday. John

Your Five Favorite Woody Allen Movies--and Why

I lean toward early funny Woody movies - Sleeper - made me laugh so hard that the girl I was with - an absolutely gorgeous blonde who finally said yes to my invite - never went out with me again. At least that's what I'm saying was the problem; not my personality and weird hair. I laughed...

    Stetson Fifteen

Bowlerman. That's a beautiful hat and with the family connections it is very special indeed. It's curious to me that it has both 3X Beaver quality and Stetson Fifteen on it? Wear it with pride! John

    Harrington Baracuta makers?

I didn't really require the Baracuta tag on my Harrington jacket but I wanted it to be tan. I found one of the licensed Van Heusen Baracutas for about 1/5 what the real ones go for so I thought I'd give it a try. It seems ok to me but we'll see. I'm taking her for an initial try-out tonight.
