I'm quite fond of many vintage style round frames. However, that style does not look good on my face. Tend to do better with rectangular frames. In fact, seems to me that round frames are tough to pull off for most facial types.
What part of N. Ireland? I, too, am of Ulster-Scot origin on my dad's side. Have been able to reliably trace that branch back to around 1750 only. At that time they were in Ballintoy Parish, County Antrim. Interestingly, my brother and I were the first in our line to not become farmers going...
Been wanting a green suit for awhile and came across a nice one with subtle window pane striping @ a Goodwill this week. Seems like most of my summer weight jackets-most of which were thrifted have window pane. But don't like solid colors. This was a Johnny Carson one. Didn't realize he had his...
Bought my first 1, a 1940's Lee, in a Goodwill store in the mid-80's, (never saw another 1 in a thrift shop since). Only bought my second felt fedora in the past year and my first straw 1 this summer. Earl
We have lived in our current location for over 2 years which is fairly lush with flower beds and shrubs loved by the bees and butterflies. They came in droves. This year, have seen a couple of butterflies all year and never more than a couple of bees at a time on our biggest flowering shrubs...
Only canned coffee I like is Cafe Bustelo. In fact, it's my regular coffee. It's an espresso roast. Have bought many types of boutique, dark roasted beans over the years, which I've liked but found I didn't like them any better than Cafe Bustelo which runs nearly 1/3 the price of the beans I've...
I just tried Gallo Twin Valley Hearty Burgundy last might. Definite keeper. My first foray into Burgundies. Find I like them better than Cab's or Pinot Noir's. Earl
Clothes are nice. Am on the fence about the beard. Admittedly, am not a fan of longish beards anyway, but not sure I think they look right with suits. Like that overcoat. Bought 1 closely resembling that many years ago in a thrift store, though mine is slate grey with widely spaced pencil thin...
See the public telephone sign. If that means a phone booth, can't remember the last time I saw 1, though do remember the "Clark Kent" ones from my childhood. If, on the other hand, it means a merchant kind enough to let you use their phone for a local call, those are still around.;) Good thing...
You just triggered some vague memories for me. When I was young, lived in a town of 200 people and that was indeed how it was. That was back in the very early 60's. In fact, at that time, our little town had a working blacksmith shop and a steam locomotive that used to make stops in town. Earl
