When I was a youngin living on our farm, would love to go up into the attic to check out all the "old stuff" our family stuck up there, some of which I ended up with like things belonging to a great uncle who died in WWII such as his 1864 US Colt musket, his 1915 West Point annual, (he was a...
Not "friendly with," but knew in a professional capacity 3 folks who've murdered. I was their psychotherapist. Tow of them I treated as teens prior to their murders, though in 1 case only preceded it by a year. Yeah, he killed his cousin at age 15. I forewarned his father, who enabled everything...
Quite attractive. Have yet to wear my straw this year due to covid. That is, as I'm retired now, about the only place I go is to grocery stores where I studiously wear my mask and protective eyewear. Whatever I put on my head will be offset by the fashion challenge on my face and detract from...
When I was an undergrad in South Dakota in the early 70's, did an internship in the state legislature. At that time, there were still spittoons by each legislator's desk. Those were still "wild west" days there than with much partying going on. Not surprising to see the then lieutenant governor...
You must not be that old yet to say that. Trust me that, when you get old enough, your body complains mightily if you do much hiking and your back certainly won't enjoy camping out.;)
You wear a felt hat while mowing the yard?! In warm/hot country besides?! I sweat to death mowing the yard in shorts and hatless anytime the temp gets to 80.
Looks a fair bit like a Lee, which I assumed was made somewhere in the 40's, I picked up at a Goodwill some 35 years ago. Mine though is tan and the crown of mine seems a bit taller. It was then and still is in excellent condition. 1 of only 2 felt fedoras I own.
I think southwestern native American cuffs made of silver and various stones are quite attractive, though don't own 1. Closest I have is a Zuni silver and stone work watch. Do own a couple of Nepalese cuffs I've worn occasionally for years, 1 of which is silver with embossed Buddhist symbols.
scotty, I could say the same. Craig is long enough in the tooth now that it makes sense for him to move out of the role, but he is my favorite Bond and the movies featuring him my favorite Bond movies.
Typically I haven't been a fan of the sport coat and jeans look. But, I retired earlier this year and really wanted to still get use out of my 2 camel hair jackets, a camel and a charcoal gray colored one, and a Harris tweed. So, have taken to wearing them with jeans and their look has grown on...
Until my mother died about 20 years ago and the coat was sold with her estate, we had a buffalo hide coat in the family which looked exactly like that minus the leather straps. Sinew seams. Belonged to my great grandfather who had emigrated to South Dakota from Ontario in the 1880's. Rather wish...
Don't think my mind is slipping into dottage yet. While no neurosurgeon, am fairly highly educated and worked in a health field, a very stressful one, community mental health. Between the stress and the fact I had largely lost interest in my work, it was time to pull the plug at 65. Don't miss...
Retired just a tad over 5 months ago and absolutely love it. In fact, the only downside for me is I discovered I now have much less need to leave the house as when I was working. When I worked, unless it was too windy or rainy, always had a lid on, straw fedora in warm months, felt fedoras and...
