    The Vintage Camera Club Thread

About the same time I bought the little Minolta I picked up one of these Yashica Mat-124 cameras at the base exchange. I was spending a lot of time in the base darkroom. The nights are long and cold in Iceland. For it's time this was pretty much state of the art unless you could afford a...

    The Vintage Camera Club Thread

When I was deployed to Iceland in 1968 I bought one of these Minolta-16 MG miniature cameras, a James Bond special. It uses 16mm movie film and you can get an idea how big it is beside that quarter. It took awful pictures.

Getting away from 35mm for a bit, here's my Kodak Brownie Hawkeye. This particular one is off eBay, but I did have one when I was in early high school and they were fairly new at the time.

The first 35mm I bought for myself back in the 60's was an Argus C3 like this one. Harry Potter was far in the future then.

This Argus A 35mm camera belonged to my father. He bought it in WWII. I used it some in high school.

Next, here's my Kodak Vigilant Six 20A. My father had one of these and I used to use it some back in the 50's. This one is off eBay, though.

    This or That

New or same hotel? Depends on the purpose of the visit. If visiting relatives or business travel then the same good hotel closest to where I'm visitin. If vacationing, then most likely a different hotel because we seldom vacation at the same destinations. Unless we're going on a cruise, then we...

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

I see coat racks in some restaurants and cafeterias, but I dont use them simply because these days you are as likely to have your coat and/or hat stolen as not. And that's especially true if they are nice ones.

Some us do know one fork from another and can properly use them. And even know how use chopsticks correctly. Actually, I can use chopsticks better than some of the younger Chinese in our extended family. My wife is Chinese and I learned how to use them correctly when we were first dating over...

E-readers vary quite a bit in look and feel. My main reader is a Kindle Paperwhite and it is nothing much like the glossy, backlit screen of a computer monitor, tablet or smartphone. It's about the size of a paperback but thinner. I can vary the font size to what is comfortable for me. It works...

Walk away - it's even worse when you are right. (You do learn some things in 45 years of marriage.) Highways or byways?

Great looking G-1. I'm sure you like it as much as I like my Cooper and for many years.

As mentioned, the Akubras are excellent hats. I do have a number of those.

    Looking For a Formal Fedora

Given your parameters I'd suggest something like this Dobbs Fur Felt Fedora from menshats.com. It had a silk finish and falls within your price range. The pin on the ribbon can be removed easily if you'd prefer not to have it there. Look through that web site and you'll see other fedoras such...

    Looking For a Formal Fedora

I read the OP's comment to be comparing himself to a 5 year old in terms of his knowledge and understanding of hats and asking that replies be explained to him at that level. He wasn't insulting anyone else.

Oh, I still have physical books. But it's several hundreds now and not several thousands. Much more of a controlled situation now.
